Yeah, it's really a promissing development. A few years back a guy like Nicolai Müller would be a lock to be a NT player for years. These days he can only make it for a pointless trip to the USA because the starters needed vacation after playing in an all German CL final.

Whether they win a title or not with the NT. The next few years will be a joy to watch for German soccer fans.

If only we could somehow sub Löw out for Heynckes.

The most frustrating thing about our NT is our utter inability to defend. On paper, a "best of" of Lahm, Merte, Hummels, Boateng, Höwedes and Schmelzer should be a clean sheet waiting to happen, but Jogi always finds new ways to f*** things up.

It's his stubborn refusal to just let Hummels and Boateng work through the kinks, while also failing to organize our pressing so as not to leave gaping holes infront of Mertesacker.

Can Germany win a WC despite Jogi?

I'll believe it when I see it.

He'll probably come up with the master tactic of playing Özil as a winger in a semi final again. :nonono:

New contract for Klopp running until 2018. Good news. Means BVB will stay a strong side even if they lose a few players over the years.

I think our players are nearing the point where they can prevail despite Jogi provided Merte is glued to the bench. Especially since Jogi finally experimented with Ozil as a false 9 in front of a Schweini-Sami-Kroos midfield trio and it worked great. If he just makes that his formation, with a Hummels-Boateng partnership between Lahm and Schmelzer/Grosskreutz/Bender, I'll actually have some confidence in this team. Had we won at the euros that would've been the second youngest German team to ever win anything. This year I think we'd be the third youngest , that experience lessens jogi's impact.

The Özil false 9 thing will never work. Özil can't score to save his life in important games.

I'd rather have Kruse or Klose up front.

Firstly I disagree, Mesut's scoring has improved significantly over the past couple of years, especially with the NT, but more importantly that doesn't matter to the formation being effective. What would matter would be whether Reus, Mueller and Kroos can score goals, whether our pressing can finally become as lethal as Bayern or Dortmund's, while maintaining our genius on the ball. And that would be resounding yes on all fronts as long as Hummels replaces Merte next to Boateng because Mesut just basically does his usual thing, but with Kroos sitting deeper alongside Schweini and Khedira, we wouldn't leave those massive gaps behind our first wave of pressing.

Last years Copa del Rey final is a perfect example of what I mean. Özil should've scored at least three but scored none. And he doesn't have the physical ability needed against CB. If we do that false 9 thing we need at least Müller or Kruse up front instead of Özil.

Ozil should never be physically battling with CBs, he'll just do his mesut drift around thing and hopefully taking one or two of them with him for Reus, Muller and Kroos to step into those central danger areas with space to score. It's less a false 9 as genuinely playing with no striker, just three CMs behind a three AMs.

That's the difference between this 4-3-3-0 and just using Kruse or Muller up top of a 4-2-3-1

Whatever. I'm not a huge fan of the false 9. I think you need a physical striker that can hold the ball and finish headers.

Before the season people here were expecting Bayern to run away with the title. It will be a very close race until the end.

LMAO. Hyypiä doing his best to help Gladbach and Schalke cutting that 10 point deficit to single digits.

Starting with Derdiyok, Kruse and Hegeler instead of Sam, Son and Kießling. SMH.

Gladbach are only 6 points back now and Schalke only 8. Leverkusen can totally still lose their CL spot.

After the 2:1 win vs Hoffenheim, Bayern has now equalised the umpteenth BL record, staying undefeated in 36 consecutive games. Also, Pep has stayed undefeated in his 11 first BL games, also a BL record. Bayern's finishing is still atrocious but they consistently win games after being down 1:0. Not all teams can play like FCB. Leverkusen tried to pull a "Bayern" (play w/o your 5 best players and still win) but failed miserably

Edit: holy smoke, Bayern is just converting 16.4% of its scoring opportunities. In comparison, Dortmund converts on 20.8%, and Hoffenheim is the most efficient with 26.8%. If Bayern scored like Hoffe, they would already have scored 39 goals. That would be straight up unfair.
