Looks that way. The most even matchup in the R16 imo.

Japan! Felt like that was coming.

Hopefully none of that "his arm was slightly offside" ****.

Wow that was such a creative corner execution for Japan to get ahead.

Japan is an easy team to root for, the plucky underdog and there is something about a grown man wearing pink hair rooting for his team that makes me smile.

That's what happens when you don't score. Old story, I am a bit surprised by how badly Modric has played this first half. :-?

Oh my. That Japanese fans "Where's modric" sign was almost hilarious.

Read on Twitter

Rúben Dias dropping an F-bomb in Portuguese, after realizing he had to respond in Portuguese according to team rules.

Not sure what to make of these rules. I understand this is the national team and that they're expected to speak the official language. It certainly is not equivalent to, for instance, if someone had demanded of Yuta Watanabe during his time with the Raptors that he respond in English or French to Takeshi Shibata's questions in Japanese (and that's how I'm cleverly tying this in with the on-going game).

But still: if the guys are fluent in whatever language. I don't see the harm in letting them reach a broader audience.

I had Croatia beating Japan on penalties after a 1-1 draw. So far so good.

What's that, 6 of the last 7 knockout ties decided by ET/penalties for Croatia?
