Im terms of talent portugal have one of the worst squads in recent history.

Ronaldo is one of the best 2 players in the WC but is having some serious injury problems related to the long season.

After him we have Nani (almost never played), Moutinho, Pepe (coming from injury) Coentrão (didn't play much this season) and maybe Meireles (also with injury problems) as above average players (in terms of players in the WC to be candidates to reach the 2nd fase) and then a bunch of average talent like Bruno Alves, Varela, Miguel Veloso, and etc. After germany everybody has a chance in this group

Portugal was't overatted until this WC Anyone who says different isn't that smart. I would say ignorant but i don't want to insult anyone (at least no more than they insult themselfs with their own words)

We have a better World Cup record in the last 10 years than Brazil or Argentina for example.

We almost always lost to the winner and the finalist team in the last few WC (2006 vs France in the top 4, 2010 vs Spain and in Euro cups its the same story only going out in the quarters os semi finals, i don't know what some people are expecting from a country that has only 10million habbitants vs others like brasil, Spain argentina and Germany)

American pride. On the flip side Portugal hasn't played too well leading up to the WC. They had to scratch and fight. We will see what happens but it would be a disappointed if the US advanced and not Portugal

Althouth we don't have a good record vs the _US team... damn you Donovan!!!!! 12 years have passed and it still hurts:D

Go USA!!! I'm pumped about the WC! Germany of course moves on, but I think any of the 3 others have a shot.

For the US, it's all about Ghana. I think that's the Make or Break match.

Both, Ballack and especially Matthäus (can't believe some people actually listen to what he has to say), need to STFU.

They want attention, that's all.

The critic isn't completely without any reason, from time to time Özil looks a bit lost and without confidence. On the other hand, everyone knows his tremendous potential.

I do not thinks it is about attacking him, instead it is more about provoking him. Kind of "Come on, get your stuff together, we need your best".

He's been pretty meh and shown as much as he did with Arsenal after those great first ten games or so.

He needs to get back to being more pro-active, being on the move and creating stuff. Currently he's just sleepwalking over the pitch and tries to do some nice passes without moving at all and that's not going to cut it.
Because of that he'll have to take a step forward or else he'll be sitting on the bench watching Toni Kroos play his position.

BTW: No one knows what the heck Löw will decide on for that first game. Though, yesterday he played the following guys as a possible starting eleven.

-------------------------------Neuer----------------------------

-Lahm----------Mertesacker------Boateng--------Höwedes-

-------------------------Khedira-----Kroos-----------------------

-Müller----------------------Özil-----------------------Podolski-

-----------------------------Klose------------------------------------

I could easily see this being the starting eleven given that neither Schweinsteiger nor Khedira are fully fit and will most likely rotate to start the tournament.
Though, he could opt to play a more compact midfield by playing Lahm at holding MF, rotating Boateng to the RB position and playing Hummels at center back. That would also mean Özil to the bench and Kroos a bit more offensively.

Well, Löw's hell bend on starting Mertesacker, thanks to his leadership, and because of that Boateng fits better.
The reason for that is the lack of speed a pairing of Mertesacker and Hummels would bring.
Though, he could still play Boateng at RB, Lahm at DM and Hummels next to Mertesacker.
