Arnowhatever is a grumpy cheat, he has some skill but no team ethos - he shouted at all his team mates in a negative way and that was before the team went behind. I hear that he's told Stoke he wants to leave and play CL football. He'd better hope that Arsenal want him because he doesn't have the work ethic or team spirit to play for Leicester or Spurs. I guess he could join Man U for europa league football but again Klopp wouldn't take him for Liverpool.

Overall Austria didn't play like a team and hinteregger gave the ball away a lot. I wasn't impressed with either team but at least the Hungarian support was vociferous.

Enjoyed watching Iceland hold the portuguese. Ronaldo is class but it's great to see his bitchy side when things don't go his way.

Carvalho should have been off for some cynical dirty fouls.

loving the thinly veiled shots at United and Arsenal

Joao Saraiva wrote:Portugal didn't fail because of Ronaldo. It was a tactical mistake.

Danilo is a good player defending, but on offense he produces absolutely nothing. William should have been there.

With a team that has so many defenders Ronaldo and Nani shouldn't be the only two strikers. Quaresma was injured, so Eder (as bad as he is, he was the only striker left) should have been in the 1st 11. The only header Ronaldo got was when Eder was playing, because defenders also have to pay attention to him.

André Gomes and João Mário shouldn't be the wingers even when playing in 4-4-2. If one of them is in the wing, the other wing has to have a more offensive player. Rafa should have played.

So basically I'd go with a 4-3-3 scheme (William, João Mário and Adrien in midfield, with Ronaldo, Nani and Eder).

Portugal didn't win because they weren't very good. Ronaldo is a great player but the team is only mediocre (like the England team and many others).

I didn't mean it in a negative way. IMO Manchester U and particularly Arsenal are methodical teams which like to play the ball around before picking out a killer pass for a goal. Neither team play with the speed and pressing of Leicester, Spurs or Liverpool to which I think Arnautovic is unsuited. Arsenal could use him well with his clever flicks but he'd be a duck out of water at the three teams mentioned.

I'm certainly not knocking Arsenal who have a very nice team.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jun/15/cristiano-ronaldo-portugal-iceland-small-mentality

One week in and Euro 2016 has already delivered some intriguing ironies, the most spectacular one being Cristiano Ronaldo complaining about over-celebration after Iceland enjoyed taking a point against Portugal on Tuesday night. We’d recommend Ronaldo take a long hard look at himself in the mirror if we didn’t know that he already spends several hours a day doing exactly that.

“I thought they’d won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end, it was unbelievable,” complained a man who thinks the successful conversion of a penalty is ample reason to launch into a full Chippendales routine.

“He’s just a sore loser,” the defender Kari Arnason said. “He didn’t want to lose the game. What does he expect – for us to play like Barcelona against him? He fannies about and dives around.” And to add insult to injury, Arnason added: “We didn’t pay any extra attention to him.”

I would pay a lot of money to see Iceland win this group while Portugal go home after 3 games. Would be hilarious.

Nicola Rizzoli referees the Portugal-Austria, first you would have to make a very quick call. The referee for Iceland-Portugal is yet to be known.
