The havertz signing is making me lose my mind. We paid 65M pounds to MASSIVELY downgrade on Xhaka for the most nothing player i've ever seen. I wasn't even the biggest of Xhaka fans but this is wild. I've never seen a pro get away with playing in gear 1 with 0 intensity for entire matches.

It's weird to be a title contender and say "let's take a hugely expensive gamble on turning a 10 who has spent the last two years playing as a 9 into an 8" when you could just buy an elite, proven 8 for that kind of money instead.

I think a lot of people were puzzled by that signing when it happened, and now that the season has started the picture still doesn't look any clearer. It really was a strange signing.

I had three games on yesterday but none of them were the Newcastle game :(
What a way to bring CL football back to your home fans. Amazing.

Apologies to PSG supporters, however, I was over the moon to see Newcastle United defeat them. The atmosphere at St. James' Park is what the CL is all about.

I doubt Enrique last much longer. PSG is currently 5th in its league.

Can't say I have fond feelings for either team at this point, but at least Newcastle have a strong established fanbase and history to go along with it. PSG is sadly a mercenary club at this point, no longer the club of Ronaldinho, Pauleta, Okocha, etc. though I wonder if they might try revamping that image in earnest.

It does appear PSG is moving away from it's galactico approach.

Agreed. Plenty of capable 8s went for cheaper this window: Szoboszlai (though he's more of a 10, he'd fit that Xhaka role), Mount, Mac Allister (would've been perfect), Ward-Prowse, maybe even Sabitzer would've been a better pick-up than Havertz in that role lol.

Very entertaining start to the Galatasaray vs. Bayern game. Bayern lead but Gala have had some great chances to score and are taking it to them. They're leaving themselves open at the back for Bayern counters, though.

Icardi equalises with a cheeky panenka penalty, very sloppy foul by Kimmich to give the penalty away. But it's what Galatasaray deserve, they've been excellent so far.

Is this real life

Eventual result might very well disappoint but damn Gala absolutely dominating the team that hasnt lost in a group in 38 matches.

Kerem needs to be sacrificed, he is great at creating chaos but he is absoulutely horrendous when it comes to finishing and costing goals. Would love to see Ziyech if he is fit, maybe Baris Alper.

Kane thinks it's a final and has disappeared

Might also be the worst game of Sane's career so far

What do Gala fans think of Wilfried Zaha so far? I think in England most people were slightly puzzled by the move but when you see the support and intensity of a CL night like this in Turkey, it makes more sense.

He had his moments but he came over unfit and so far he has been trying to get into game shape. I think he'll do well eventually.

and yeah Gala was trying to sign him he explicitly said he wanted to play for a Champions League team.
