I agree though on Sturridge. He's obviously not in Klopps major plans. He's outside looking in....and just when he gets it going, something pulls/snaps/breaks/tears....and it's 2 months off.

He is talented though. It's the quandary with a guy like him. Could he fill in for Mane....go nuts and basically seal our title? Absolutely. Could he be hurt, forcing us to go with someone I've never heard of? You bet.

At some point...I think Klopp has to have a number in his head, where he parts ways, and tries to grab someone from a team that's out of the picture already. That guy may not have that same level of talent, but the best ability, is availability.

Well he won't get a better chance of scoring an England hat-trick than today against San marino, sorry I mean Scotland.

Heartening article today about Coutinho wanting to stick around at Liverpool. You gotta take these things for what they are, but this is a guy who knows Coutinho, was his youth coach, and has no ties with any clubs involved.

"" Coutinho, 24, has made a flying start to the season for the Reds, scoring five goals and setting up five for teammates in his first 11 appearances, and that form has seen Barcelona linked. But Goncalves insists a move is not on the agenda for Coutinho.

"Whenever we speak he always says that is very happy at Liverpool and his biggest challenge is to win the Premier League and Champions League with Liverpool," Goncalves told the Telegraph. "He knows that if he continues to give great performances for Liverpool, he will always be selected for Brazil." """

The Story is on Soccernet, if anyone cares. But that quote is essentially the meat of the article.

I personally have my fears about where this team stands nowadays in the Footy-world. But articles like this give me hope. I do think it would be great for us to win the title. Like really, REALLY huge. I do hope the owners recognize, and knock all walls down in the name of winning NOW. Yeah...it doesn't make us Barcelona...but I think 2-3 years of European football with a title in there puts us right back at the top with the other guys as a destination for great players.

I know thats not the be-all end-all.....but it means we're not constantly being poached by our own league. It's bad enough to lose a guy or two to the super-giants of the world.....but when 3-4 teams in your own league consider you a grab-bag, it's fu**ing annoying.

Anyhow...no games this week, and I'm bored =0) Next week is Southampton. I personally enjoy this whole "being on top" thing, so let's do what we need to do, eh?!

Two of our players scored...thats cool.

Poor San Marino. Germany took em back behind the shed. Alot of teams do that to them. I'd like to become a fan of theirs, but I don't have the stomach for it.

Interesting article Cactus. It's always so hard to know whats true...what rumor, but I think it's certain that something must happen. It's not fair to him to just rot...and frankly we're not a powerhouse who can afford that kinda talent / price-tag just wasting away.

Agree with the article that $28 sounds a little low, but if we can't get big-teams to call....your only gonna squeeze so much blood out of the lower guys.

I'm not a Sturridge guy myself. The guy has talent....I certainly 'like' the guy. But the injuries, and the effort-issues just make it so I am fine parting ways. It would be best for him, and prob best for us...assuming we get a guy in return who plays.

Gerrard left the Galaxy this week. I wonder what's next for him. I'd love to see him come back, and help get a title. Would be the PERFECT scenario. Prob not a very realistic one though.

I didn't watch him on Galaxy much. Was hard to see him on a different team. But you can see the age catching him. He's not the 2006 Gerrard, by a long-shot. At some point, you can't look back. I'm obviously not there yet....but I know its for the best.

Just don't join Man-Ure, or Chel$ea please! All I freaking ask.

He needs to get into coaching.

Too funny. Poor England

I wonder if he'd be a good coach? He seems kinda quiet, and unassuming. I don't know if thats a good coach quality...but I could see how underneath that could be a pretty intense guy? Not sure.

I remember reading this real in-depth article about the team about 7-8 years ago, and they were kinda "spending a few days" with Gerrard, and I remember he left the grounds and went home to his daughters, and was talking to the guy, and it just kind of came off like Steven didn't really like all the pro stuff. It was a job, and it kept him away from home, which he didn't like. I am not doing the article any justice...and It's been years now....but you just got the sense that he didn't like the team stuff....the crowds...the fans. He just wanted to get in his car and get home, and be left alone.

Hmm....maybe it was that show about Liverpool that ran for a little...although It seems like this was much longer ago? Hell...I can't remember. Point is....I'm not sure he would want to deal with all of that. For lack of anything better....you just got that "Duncan" vibe from him. Quiet guy....did his job. Took the job, and his career seriously....but it's almost a matter of 'blue-collar work ethic' than passion. I'm not sure any of that makes any sense...but it just seems like Gerrard ain't the coaching type.

Prob would be great, if he was into it though.

To be honest, I like it for Gerrard if he winds up at the Dons. He's not jumping in the deep end like Neville did.

Even if his coaching chops aren't too well developed right now, having a legend around in the dressing room has to help the morale of a team that desperately needs it. He's a passionate guy and I can see it rubbing off on the players.

Yeah...I just got on, read that, and was gonna post something. Looks like you beat me to it.

Well, I guess I was totally wrong! I didn't peg Stevie for the manager type...but there you have it.

Yeah...If he's able to translate that passion, and teach. And it' not just about teaching skills. I for one am pretty curious to see how that all works out. Obviously, I'm a huge Stevie-G fan...so I hope he does great. I think your right too, that this is prob a good first step, instead of jumping into some EPL team, or something.

How ever it goes....YNWA Stevie!!

Well....lost our top spot.

Don't know what to say.....if we can't beat the bottom teams, then we aren't champions, simple as that.

Southampton aren't exactly a bottom team, either. They finished above you last season and 2pts behind you the season prior to that. No shame in drawing at their place.

They're a decent if unspectacular side.

Well it's official:

Gerrard said in a statement: "Following recent media speculation surrounding my future I can confirm my retirement from playing professional football. I have had an incredible career and am thankful for each and every moment of my time at Liverpool, England and LA Galaxy. As a teenager I fulfilled my childhood dream by pulling on the famous red shirt of Liverpool, and when I made my debut against Blackburn Rovers in November 1998 I could never have imagined what would then follow over the next 18 years."

I know your never gonna read this Steven, but it was a pleasure to watch you play. I am proud to have rooted for you year after year, and still remember watching 2005 like it was yesterday. What a night (day for me) that was!

It's a sad moment for this fan...but time stops for no one. I wish we'd have pulled off a league title, as I can think of nobody more deserving of one than you. I guess you and I will share that moment as viewers now. Hopefully you get into coaching, and get to play a part in Liverpools first Prem Title....when that day finally comes.

Heavy heart...I'm not gonna lie, but YNWA Stevie! Thank you
