Döp Döp Döp :rock:

Fortress Borussia Park, I'd say.
Since Schubert took over we're 11-1-1 at home with 34 points and a 36-11 goal difference.

Good thing for us is that we're now seven points(+ goal difference) off 8th place Wolfsburg and as long as Bremen doesn't win the cup, 7th would be enough to qualify for EL.
Our fate will now be decided on the road, with four of the last six away from home.
Either we do something during those games or we're going to be in trouble to finish within the top seven.

The next two are at Ingolstadt and Hannover. If we could get at least four points out of those two we'd be in play for those CL spots.
If not it's going to be a battle to secure EL.

He did

He didnt go after it in the 2nd half. I remember Bayern just passing the ball around the last 15 minutes, Dortmund just sat back.

You learn something new everyday. Today, we learned that Tuchel is the best coach in the world. A coach can be the best without winning a single trophy.

Also, he was so afraid of Bayern in the last meeting. He literally held his team back, not to attack. He played for a draw and I have no clue why.

+++ BREAKING +++
Hannover 96 beurlaubt Trainer Thomas Schaaf.

How highly do you rate Schaaf's managerial career? I thought he was the best coach in Germany in the 00s, but his results the last years havent been great.

Schaaf is a really great offensive minded manager that doesn't understand how to organize a defense.
He got by thanks to all the fire power he had during those years with Bremen, until they didn't have the funds anymore and lost a lot of quality.
He did a solid job with Frankfurt last season, especially after they had lost quite a few important players, but I never understood why he agreed to take over Hannover.
They're terrible and there's no way his system could've ever worked there.

BTW: Given that people always talk about how boring Bundesliga's compared to those other leagues.
The difference between first and second place in the league by points:

Bundesliga --> 5 points
Serie A --> 6 points
La Liga --> 6 points
EPL --> 7 points
Ligue 1 --> 25 points

i'd say this is a similar situation to when neuer came to bayern. nobody doubts his talent, but there is some history. and as with bayern, give it time. i for one would welcome götze back, if it were to happen.

spectacular finish yesterday. as with augsburg, they pulled it off late. they are that good and that confident, but this shouldn't be a regular thing. and of course they can't allow this against pool.

edit: best season in club history and probably wont be champion. smh, those bayern.

You should've beaten them in Dortmund. But Tuchel bottled it and played for a draw. That was your chance.

then dortmund would still be 2 points behind bayern and in need of bayern slipping at the end. just goes to show you how dominant bayern has been this season. gotta give respect where it is due.

so the D'Antoni of soccer?

gotta keep getting them checks! ;-)

shaaf is by no means a great coach, but with the right players, he can outscore the opponent, most times. in all those years in bremen he never managed to find the balance between offense and defense. taking that hannover job, sure didn't help his resume. i hope he can take over a better situation starting next season.

I wonder if Red Bull reaches out to Schaaf to take over for Rangnick next season? Seems like he would make a lot of sense for that young & talented team; and help them win over some neutrals in their inaugural BuLi season, despite that corporate connection that will turn so many folks away.

That's a good comparison, both are clever & creative offensive coaches, though Mike D's a bit moreso...as Schaaf wasn't as innovative or tactically nuanced in his heyday. Maybe George Karl would better comp? Don't know his work as well as D'Antoni's.

...who I still think could've become one of the greatest non-Pop coaches in league had LeBron chosen to come to the Knicks; so we could've held onto our kids & Donnie Walsh. Instead of shipping them all out for Melo to join the defensive liability that was Amare & Donnie getting pushed out b/c Dolan gunna Dolan. *sigh* What could've been in the universe where folks got to watch Mike D run his offense through LBJ & Gallo, with Chandler & Shumpert helping lock down the perimeter, and Chandler prowling the paint.

For me it's mostly because of Ewing, Spree, Clyde & Houston...with how much more like Berlin NYC felt than Chicago to seal the deal. Patrick & Spree reminded me of the way Oliver Kahn kept goals out through pure hatred of conceding, H2O was just elegant in between his injuries, and Clyde was simply far too smooth not to enjo watching any game he announces.

If the knicks were as successful as Dortmund; growing up a knicks fan in chicago wouldn't have sucked anywhere near as much as it did.

Yeah because group stage is completely comparable to knockout stage.
