It really depends on what kind of group they end up in, if they actually hang on and make it.

Anything close to the Group of Death, and I don't see us making it out of group play. If we end up drawing a middle ground European team, an Asian team and maybe a South American team that isn't Brazil or Argentina, then I think they have a shot at making it out.

I don't think you wanna mess with those South American teams: Columbia and Ecuador are looking scary good

South Americans football is so different. I can't see any of them making noise next year including Colombia and Ecuador and Argentina. Their football style was popular until 2000s. Now football is played in a different way.

until 2000s? last wc half the quarter finalists were south americans and all 5 qualified from their group, they'll be fine especially in their own turf.

South Americans always do well in the WC, I don't expect anything to change. Only the top 3 or 4 European teams are clearly better. The rest is a 50/50 chance.

I am talking about winning it. Since 1990, only Brazil won twice from South America.

Then France domination, then Spain domination.

If you speak of winning it, only Germany and Spain can win this. Italy, Portugal, France, England will be along with the S Americans in failing to win.

brazil has a better chance than germany imo, i am not convinced germany even getting through italy until they fix their defense.

Brazil is only a threat because they play at home, but I am not impressed with them even in the confeds cup. Italy may be able to best Germany, but it would be a coincidence if they meet. Germany's defense has Lahm, Hummels, Boateng, and a world class keeper. Add to that Ilkay and Schewni in the midfield. Their defense will be fine

certainly not playing up to sum of their parts, their defensive record has been pretty mediocre past year and a half. might be coaching but coach isn't going to change on 2014.

Yes coaching. I am rooting for Germany to win, but I am almost certain they will waste their vast talent yet again under an idiotic coach.

South American Football is still good.
Brazil choke dit up in the last world cup, but we still had Uruguay, Chile, Argentina being competitive.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

i wouldn't say choked, netherlands easily had more quality 2010. no more than 4-5 players from brazil's 2010 squad is going to be playing in 2014.

Ya Mix has real talent. Hope we start subbing Landon in for Zusi soon.

I think next year could be the first time we've ever had more quality players truly deserving of a spot on the WC squad than there are places on the squad. Lots of guys from yesterday (around 10-12) who could end up playing their way onto the squad.

Wasnt able to catch the game, but Im happy Donovan is back into the fold and played well. I feel like we have really missed him on the main squad.

Diskerud and Holden changed that game when they came in. I hope at least one of them starts on Tuesday.

I can't be the only one watching the Gold Cup game against Belize and I can't be the only one who saw this young lady cheering on Team USA. :)
