Does he still have a good rep in Turkey?

After failing to win in the last game of the season in order to win the championship for 2 seperate seasons, his reputation has taken a big hit. But with the uncertainty of the Beşiktaş' job because of the match-fixing allegations, he might be appointed. No Beşiktaş fan will be happy about it though.

Comment: if Geromel leaves Cologne, which is not that unlikely, this move will become pure gold. (In other words, 1. FC Köln, as usual 8-) )

I was very impressed with him and Mohammed when Arsenal played them.

Yeah, Mohamad and Geromel are a pretty good defensive duo. Especially, Geromel is a tremendous player. Mohamad is a bit on decline already but he's still a good defender.
Podolski, Rensing, Riether and Novakovic are also solid/good Bundesliga players.
They have a lot of low quality player, too though.

Werder Bremen and Leverkusen out, too. This is crazy. :o

If Bundesliga teams keep screwing it up at this rate we'll see 2 2nd league teams again in the semi-finals.

Fun starts at 3:00, but the Schürle goal before that is also nice to watch.

Bochum :curse:

I'm glad Dresden beat Leverkusen, though. Must have been a helluva experience to attend the game.

Good bye Freiburg, too.

I can see my Mainzer screw it up, too. 0:0 at half time.

I'm prepared for a long disappointing season.

First we manage to not win against some Rumanian deserted village club and now we need refs help to beat soccer force SVN Zweibrücken.

Really they should've been given a penalty and a regular goal was disallowed. And it's still only 1-0 for us in extra time.

Edit: 2-0, thank you Sami.
Edit2: 2-1 what a lousy game. :(
Our defense is a Hühnerhaufen.

I'm adopting a Bundesliga team this season. Hello, Schalke.

Bayern owns Braunschweig 3-0 with some very impressive soccer. They just calmly dominated the game, and Müller is already in superb shape. You also saw the value of having a fast, crisp passing guy (Boateng) instead of slowcoaches like Badstuber / Van Buyten.

Quote of the WE: after getting slaughtered 1-11 vs Schalke, the coach of Teningen (seventh league) said: "You really saw that Schalke is five classes better than us."

What I like about Badstuber is his ability to make precise long passes. Both crosses as well as fast long passes. I think I've seen it a number of times already that he made a long very precise pass that opens up room for his teammates because the opposing team didn't anticipate such a pass.
Badstuber is pretty slow at everything but like every once in a while he shows that he's pretty good at noticing other teams defensive mistakes.
I don't like him as a defender, though. He's like a Per Mertesacker with better ability on the ball but just as stiff.

In the EL, Mainz 05 crashes out against the dead last of the Romanian League, Gaz Metan Medias. Congratulations, you have replaced Leverkusen as the laughingstock of German soccer. Mainz was too stupid to beat a bunch of D-list nobodies and totally f*** up the Bundesliga for the 5 year UEFA coefficient. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

WIE PEINLICH!!!

I felt ashamed to be a Mainz 05 fan every single minute of that game. :(

Well at least Palermo screwed up, too.

First game of the season, BVB vs HSV. After half an hour, Dortmund is leading 2-0 after some SUPERB!!! soccer. Poor Hamburg is just getting slaughtered by Großkreutz, Kagawa, Götze et al :o

^^Götze is being called "the German Messi", and that is not TOTALLY wrong - I rather compare him to Paul Scholes or Mehmet Scholl though. He has endless potential, a effortless technique on and off the ball, high versatility and great maturity and work ethic, especially for his age. You really know that this guy's dad (Jürgen Götze) is a professor at the Dortmund university

For the German NT, Götze has the "misfortune" that his rivals (T. Müller, Özil, Podolski) are just that little bit more established. But it is an embarrassment of riches to have guys like him (or other BVB guys like Hummels, Großkreutz or Gündogan) on the bench. :D

Until now, Götze's "weakness" is that he has yet to suffer a setback in his career. If he gets a slump and honestly works himself out, he could be a 100+ cap player 8-)

Dortmund looks incredible. Will be interesting to see their matchup against the Bayern. Munich looks stronger than last year, but damn... Dortmund seems to be barely beatable.
