just tell him that if he plays for us for the next 15 years, we'll give him the emirates when he retires.

seems fair

I think RvP stays.

Goal.com reporting we've reached personal terms with Podolski to sign in the summer.

Where is the podcast?!

Podolski is heavily linked to Arsenal, speculation is that he will leave Cologne for about 25m Euro. As most of you know, he is a versatile, fast left footed striker who feels most comfortable in the "hole" behind a pure center forward, but can also play left wing.

Podolski is a superb striker IF HE FEELS THAT HE IS A SURE STARTER. He utterly fears fighting fellow strikers who are as good as him - he folded like a pack of cards when he had to deal with Klose, Toni, Pizarro, Santa Cruz etc at Bayern. So, if he makes the move, do you think he will succeed?

But most of the time he was only a substitute at Bayern. His raw numbers actually weren't that bad, take his last season there: 6 goals, 7 assists in 1477 minutes = 114 minutes per scorer point, as a substitute. That's good.
Wake up, girl. I wanna go surfing.

Anything over 10 mil Euros is reaching for Podolski, who is actually not the kind of player Arsenal really need anyways. A left-back, center forward and left winger should be Arsenal's priorities in that order.

I just double checked - Cologne declined a 23m Euro offer earlier this season but now seems content with about 18m. Either way, it is their last chance to get loads of cash for Poldi.

I really can't see Arsenal paying 18 mil for a player with no re-sale value and likely already met his potential. Not a Wenger kind of move.

Disagree there, left back is not a main priority, imo. CF, and a creative midfielder, are priorities over left back, imo. We have Gibbs, Santos (who was starting to come into his own before his injury), and Pedro Botelho should be in the side next year, too. We need creativity in the side, Wilshere will help, but we need more. Gotze would be perfect but I'm not holding any hope of that happening.

I like Podolski a lot for Arsenal, but I can't see us spending over 13-15 Mil for him.

Yeah I forgot about Santos but can you really depend on Kieran "5 games a season" Gibbs? Arsenal have had to play Vermaelen out there for a good part of the important fixtures this season.

Not really, I love Gibbs and it's a real shame he can't stay fit, he could be a hell of a player. But, with Santos and Botelho finally qualifying for a work permit I don't think we'll buy another one. Hopefully Santos can stay fit, never should have played him that damned Olympiacos game. We'd already won our group and lost our only fit fullback at the time to a meaningless game (and still lost the game).

Has Podolski ever played on the wings? He's not going to get much playing time as a striker with RVP out there...

Not in Bayern or Cologne, but sometimes in the German NT. He was actually ok but his defensive tackling was awful. Playing him as a pure winger is not useful, he is too good as a finisher - think Thierry Henry lite.

Then screw that. He's not worth half that.

Edit: There's gotta be a French guy somewhere who will give us what Podolski can, but will be much cheaper.
