Disgusting.

I don't understand it either. Isco could've helped, too but IIRC he isn't even on the squad. :dontknow:
Del Bosque needs to go.

Juanfran could have clearly helped that struggle-fest they call a back line, and Villa could have helped create at the top of the pitch. How did Diego Costa play for the most part?

Costa won a penalty that wasn't one in the first match, and did **** all the rest of the time, really. Villa definitely should have seen more time up top.

Didn't Atletico play Diego Costa and Villa together throughout the season? It could have been a clean transition of chemistry to the national team with better surrounding talent..I could be off here.

Fernando Torres getting any minutes these days must be for his contributions years ago.

Spain like their midfield three too much to play anything other than 3 up front. They opted for wingers (Pedro and Costa with Silva) instead of a strike pairing afaik.

Seems like seniority was used to justify selection of a lot of guys that look gassed- Xabi, Xavi, and Torres were no where near their peak performance. That, combined with straight up horrid defending and poor goalkeeping saw them lose out quickly.

Llorente would have been useful in the game against Chile, since their defenders often struggle with the aerial game.

Del Bosque calling out Spanish players, saying they only think of themselves. Mourinho level stuff.

Fabregas getting tossed outta training and smiling while biking away was hilarious. Signing for Chelsea side effects already showing.

Both Netherlands and Chile will play 5-3-2. Will be very interesting. If my Netherlands don't play better than they did against Australia, this will be the first loss. Interested to see how the defense will handle pressure, Blind will play LCB, with Kuyt at LWB. Some more changes are Wijnaldum and Lens coming in.

Netherlands vs Chile and Croatia vs Mexico.. So much good to look forward to today.

No Guzman and no Huntelaar to replace RvP. Kuyt will play the LB position and Lens will replace Van Persie. Wijnaldum to start instead of Guzman. No Vidal for Chile in the starting XI.

Lineups:

Netherlands: Cillessen; Janmaat, De Vrij, Vlaar, Blind; Wijnaldum, De Jong, Sneijder; Robben, Lens, Kuyt

Chile: Bravo, Isla, Medel, Mena, Jara, Silva, Gutierrez, Aranguiz, Diaz, Sanchez, Vargas

Jordan never fully understood basketball. He had the lowest basketball IQ of any NBA "superstar" in history.

What, no Huntelaar? :dontknow: Also, I cannot wait to hear how badly our German commentators mangle Kuyt's name.

"Dirk Coyd."
"Dirk Kütt."
"Dirk Keut."
"Dirk Quod."
"Dirk Käud."

Dirk Kuyt? I thought he was a striker.

I think he typically plays LW for Fenerbahce. Havent watched him a lot lately though, but he also played LW for van Marwijk in 2010. At this point, I think he really is just kind of a Jack of all Trades player. He is a somewhat decent defender, but his main trait right now is still his stamina and tireless running.

I have no idea what to expect in this game tbh.

Ha, yeah, I need to be more clear. Good recovery :)

Silly me, I meant Villa, not the 36 year old Capdevila who hasn't been with the national team since early 2011. What was I thinking?!?!
