Lots of pros and cons in facing L.A.

I like they we will both be at the start of our seasons, they are familiar, and we can scout them better.

I think being in the colder weather would have been an advantage over a Mexican side though.

I'm excited though. L.A. vs Toronto will be a BIG event in the city.

Mexican teams would have killed us. I am very happy with the draw. We have always done surprisingly well versus LA. They could lose Donovan and Beckham too. I respect LA and think they are the favourites still but we have a shot at least.

It also means an MLS team will be in the semifinals.

TFC to play CCL match at Rogers Centre

Toronto FC is heading indoors to beat the deep freeze.

The Major League Soccer franchise will announce this week that it will play the first leg of its CONCACAF Champions League quarter-final against the LA Galaxy at Rogers Centre, sportsnet.ca has learned.

The Reds will host the Galaxy on March 7 under the retractable roof at Rogers Centre, home of Major League Baseball's Blue Jays and the Argonauts of the Canadian Football league. The club will make an official announcement sometime this week, a club official told sportsnet.ca.

TFC's regular home, BMO Field, is an outdoor stadium and unprotected from the elements, making it susceptible to being snowed in, and pipes inside the facility becoming frozen and possibly bursting.

The second leg of the home-and-away series is March 14 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

The Reds qualified for the quarter-finals of the continental competition for the first time in franchise history after beating out fellow MLS side FC Dallas for second place in their round-robin group in October.

TFC management began exploring into the option of playing at Rogers Centre shortly after the club advanced to the quarter-finals.

Unlike BMO Field, Rogers Centre has artificial turf, and the club officials previously said they would consider importing a grass field if the game was to be played indoors.

If we sell out a closed dome that place is going to rockin'!!!

Reds Reach Attendance High

Toronto FC announced Friday that ticket sales for its CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal match against the LA Galaxy at Rogers Centre have passed the 25,000 mark, with more than 75% of the lower bowl sold out. Tickets went on sale exclusively to Toronto FC Season Seat Holders this past Monday and to the general public Friday morning.

The match will mark the first time Toronto FC plays a home game outside of BMO Field and is guaranteed to set a new home attendance record. BMO Field seats 21,140 and Toronto FC’s largest home crowd stands at 22,453, set April 13, 2011 vs. LA Galaxy.

25,000 tickets sold in under a week is great for soccer in this city. Toronto is going to make this a huge event, I can't wait.

It's nice to see fans taking Champions League seriously.

Cannot wait! Banner is painted and ready to go.

DeGuzman is suspended for this game, so we will have to see what kind of lineup Winter puts out there.

Since the game is sold out you'll probably have to pay a premium, but it still won't be too expensive I don't think.

Cheapest ticket from a scalper will likely be between $45 and $55 bucks.
