Re: 2024-25 German Bundesliga Thread
Man we have spent less than Cologne, Augsburg and Union on the transfer market so far despite qualifying for Europe.
All signings except for Hollerbach project to be backups. And Hollerbach so far looks exactly how I thought he would look like. Good on counter attack and pressing but poor passing, decision making and not a presence in holding balls.
Underwhelming.
The current group of players is probably too good to be in serious relegation trouble this season but next year we could be back in the relegation race again if we don't get another 2 impact players.

Bremen already out in the Cup in round 1.
They are one of my favorites to be deep in the relegation race anyway. Their transfers so far do not look all that good.

Unfortunately, I agree. We are playing with fire here.
- New coach
- New system
- Multiple good performers sold (Ducksch, for a laughable transfer fee) or long-term injured (Weiser, maybe Stage), plus we may sell Schmid as well.
- No replacement at all for those players so far
- Now Zetterer to Frankfurt. Mio Backhaus will be new No. 1. He's very talented. But new coach, new system, insecure team, good players lost and now an inexperienced goalkeeper - that's a lot of changes in a avery short time.
I don't know what's the plan here. We'll probably see a few transfers on the last day of the transfer window, as we do every year. Then a few matches have been played, and it will take a few weeks for everyone to click. Werder always comes up with the excuse that they have no other choice but to wait until the rich clubs have made their transfers and see what's left. But other clubs that are in no better financial shape than Werder have their teams more or less together.
As for the match yesterday, it didn't surprise me at all. Bielefeld was favorite to me. Up until the penalty area, it didn't look too bad at times, but we don't have a single real striker.
I expect us to be in the lower third of the standings pretty much from the start and probably until winter. I hope things start to improve in fall, but I don't see how we get a lot of point in the first weeks of the season with that Swiss cheese of a roster.
