Hermann Gerland, assistant trainer of Bayern Munich, once said about Landon Donovan that he would even sit on the bench in Munich's second team which was in the 3rd league at that time.

so it's pretty clear that 2 of the top priorities for Arsenal this summer is to extend RVP and eliminate some deadweight.

Looks like M'Vila to Arsenal might not be so certain after all.

donovan looked pretty damn good for everton this season. i dont get all the hate the guy gets. no ones saying hes messi, but i think he could do a job for arsenal if he was on the squad.

we need to shed about 12 players that are just dead weight on the wage bill. until that happens, arsene is going to be hard pressed to make any big signings

i agree with dempsey. but im worried that he wouldnt want to play the back up striker / occasional winger role with the team since he just had a very good season as a fulltime starter. van persie desperately needs a guy like clint to give him a rest every few games.

Dempsey would probably start in Ramsey's position for Arsenal. He's better than Rosicky/Ramsey for that role.

at one point that was probably true, but it doesn't have any bearing on anything now

Here is what I would do...

Outgoing Players:
- Manuel Almunia (Anywhere on a free)
- Lukasz Fabianski (sell him somewhere)
- Vito Mannone (Loan somewhere where he can be first choice keeper)
- Sebastien Squillaci (Sell to mid level French Club)
- Johan Djourou (Sell to Italian league club)
- Carl Jenkinson (Loan out to club where he can get regular first-team action)
- Abou Diaby (sell to big French club like Lyon or PSG)
- Denilson (Sell to Brazilian club)
- Emmanuel Frimpong (Loan out to club where he can get regular first-team action)
- Francis Coquelin (Loan out to club where he can get regular first-team action)
- Henri Lansbury (Sell to West Ham?)
- Andrei Arshavin (Sell to Zenit St. P)
- Aaron Ramsey (Send on loan thru Jan so he can find his form)
- Carlos Vela (Sell to club in La Liga)
- Park Chu-Young (Sell to French league)
- Nicklas Bendtner (Sell to Bundesliga club)
- Marouane Chamakh (Sell or loan to Clube in France)
- Rhys Murphy (Sell to club in League One)

Incoming Players:
- Lukas Podolski (DONE)
- Jan Vertonghen (find a way to hijack him back from Scum if Chelsea wins tomorrow)
- Steven N'Zonzi (Loan from Blackburn)
- Yoann Gourcuff (Loan, with option to buy in Jan or next summer)
- Andriy Yarmolenko
- Craig Gordon (free transfer from Sunderland)

Final Squad:
GK (3)- Szczesny*, Gordon, Shea*
LB (2)- Gibbs*, Santos
CB (5)- Vermaelen, Vertonghen, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Bartley*
RB (2)- Sagna, Eastmond*
DM/CM (4)- Song*, Wilshere*, Arteta, N'Zonzi
AM (2)- Gourcuff, Rosicky
LW (2)- Podolski, Gervinho
RW (1)- Walcott*, (Ox), (Ryodinho)
S (2)- Van Persie, Yarmolenko
* counts towards 8 homegrown players rule

I think this squad could compete with City, Man U, and Chelsea for the title. I'd say the incoming transfer fees from the players sold would also make a pretty substantial dent in our debt from building Emirates. The young players on loan get first team action this year and can come back for 2013-14 and challenge for first team spots on our squad. Older players like Rosicky and Arteta can be sold in the summer of 2013.

Arsenal have released Manuel Almunia (true!) They offered him a new contract, but only if he could catch it (gag!)

http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/oddballs/8 ... h-szczesny

The 22-year-old shot-stopper, who was giving an interview to the Polish version of Playboy, admitted the Blues skipper’s name acts as a code word when one of his team-mates wants to escape from an awkward situation with the opposite sex.

‘At Arsenal it [the name John Terry] is another word for an ugly girl,’ said Szczesny.

‘If there’s a girl around that we don’t really like, we use it as a smokescreen, as in: “Have you seen John Terry recently? He’s terrible. I recommend this, it really works.”’

The Swiss defender's form has also been a concern for his international boss, though Hitzfeld is convinced Djourou's inconsistency is down to a lack of regular playing time at Emirates Stadium.

Earth to Ottmar...Djourou doesn't get regular playing time because he's terrible. Giving him more playing time is going to lose more games for Arsenal, not make him a better player.

Arsenal should make a package for Eden Hazard... They should overpay him badly, going for a 30-35 million euro bid + former Ligue 1 players(Gervinho, Chamakh, Park...). Hazard could be a massive factor to their offense... With Hazard at Right Attacking Midfield position, they could play Ramsey as centre midfielder and their creative pass/playmaking would still look sick.

Never happening, though.

too late , hazard signed with chelsea which happens to be the worst fit for him for all the teams that wanted him. Oh well wenger shoulda wrapped this up years ago when he had the chance , I find it hilarious how good hazard thinks he is however

Oscar from Brazil seems a good fit to Arsenal too.
