Coutinho will go. Which is fine. They can live without him. But, until we build a spine & have a decent back-line, we won't challenge for the league.

Agreed.
Problem is...in 2-3 years we'll have good D, but lack-luster offense. This team has to recognize when it has something special. Suarez was a great example. We had a moment there where we shoulda won a title, but we didn't spend the necessary $$ to make it over the top. And I can almost live with that season, because we really should have won....but for some bad luck. I'm sure that slip haunts Gerrard every day. But out team really shoulda won. We were right there.
Fair enough. Cards fell wrong....but we were given an opportunity to win.
Last year feels different. Our D was bad....but we were really surprising the league with our offense. A little $$ in the window woulda helped. We never gave our boys a shot. And then we did almost nothing to help the situation this summer...so here we are getting thrashed on a weekly basis.
It's easier said than done...I get it. But this team needs to recognize those years. It happens about once every 5-6 years. We get someone, or 3 someones who really overachieve, and mesh well. Things happen...and next thing you know...we're in the hunt. Make a damn 'rainy day fund' ...but call it the 'sunny day fund'! Hit that transfer window hard.....that next summer hard. Grab that opportunity by the throat, for gods sakes!

You have to go through lows with your team in order to really enjoy the highs. Being a fan isn't just about your team winning.

Idk your view, but we've had plenty of lows as of late.

Depends on the club. It's likely different for a Leicester supporter like yourself, I would imagine. Maybe it's a difference of an American viewpoint vs. What have you.

Did you see the report of FSG supposedly turning down a 1.5B offer from a potential Dubai group?

Dude, you've lost a couple of games and are currently three points behind a CL spot, with 29 games to go. On top of that, you're still in two cup competitions and are basically guaranteed a spot in the round of 16 of the CL, thanks to that easy group and win last week.
That's no lows, that's just a couple of bad results which can easily be worked out during the rest of the season.
Cactus Jack wrote:It was painfully obvious that we needed to be buyers during the Window. Outside of signing Salah (Another Winger btw) we didn't. We continued to neglect our biggest weakness. Putting all of our eggs in the VVD pursuit. Which of course backfired. No plan B.
How much of the blame goes toward Klopp? The Sporting director?
I really really hope that Klopp sticks around. Because if he doesn't, I might be out as well.

So you'll stop supporting your club because a manager might leave?
As far as Liverpools defensive problems go.
Yes, you need better CB's than "slippin" Matip, Lovren or Augsburgs finest Ragnar Klavan.
Though, the biggest problem you've got, IMO, is that there's no real CM able to control the pace of the game and keep things together defensively, or connect the back four with the midfield.
At Dortmund, Klopp always had a guy like that in either Sebastian Kehl or Sven Bender.
At Liverpool he's got Jorden Henderson, who's not able to do that but rather more of a runner, or Emre Can, who's just a younger version of Sami Khedira.
And if you know Khedira, you know that he might(physically) look like a DM, but rather turns out to be a box-to-box midfielder who's a bit limited technically.
So yeah, bringing in van Dyk wuld help, but it still wouldn't completely solve the problems, cause there would still be opposing teams running with numbers on that back four(or rather back two, with both fullbacks going forward), which can't be defended all the time.

It's much more than that. We're fatally flawed again. You know it and I know it. Our defense is terrible. Just god-awful.
Everyone knew what we needed....except the club apparently.
Am I jumping ship to root for another team? Nah....F that. But will I be buying the kits....waking up at 5am to watch games?? Prob not so much anymore. Just tired of it. Our team had a window open last year......and we did sh** -all with that window. Been rooting for these guys for about 20 years. It's been the same story over and over. Once every 5-6 years we get that moment...and we don't do what we need to do.
This isn't about losing a couple games. It's about sitting there, and realizing we did nothing this offseason, and I gotta watch another 35+ games of futility. Over and over and over and over and over and over.
Wake me up when we're ready to go all in.

"LIVERPOOL -- Jurgen Klopp admitted Liverpool's 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday was a "big relief" after last weekend's heavy defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Second-half goals from Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Georginio Wijnaldum propelled Liverpool to a comfortable victory over newly promoted side at Anfield."
I mean look at that sh**. We beat a team I'd never heard of before (AT HOME) and we're calling it a god-send. We're a mess.
Honestly....I'd love nothing more than to just relax and enjoy the game for what it is. But that ended about 7-8 years ago. Win a f**ing title already. Getting so close so many times is just draining. And to watch us actually have some sauce last year, and then do jack-squat with it.....I'm done getting worked up. I'm done pulling my hair out.

Lastly......lets dump Coutinho.
We're wasting his time. And if he wants to leave, then go.

Oh I hear it. But 4 games in...we're leading our group. Suppose you can't ask for better? This year has been a frustrating disaster IMO, as you well know....but figured I'd praise some of the good work.
