Messi(still young but his ceiling is to be the best ever)

Maradona, but I can't say I've really seen Pele play.

I'm Argentine, but if you vote for Messi that's just stupid. It's like saying Lebron is the greatest cause of his ceiling. I'm guessing it's Maradona or Pele, but I can't really say cause I didn't watch Pele, plus I really don't follow soccer outside the World Cups and FIFA video games.

Maradona or Pele is really a toss up. I voted for Pele.

EDIT: Zidane and Ronaldo close 3rd and 4th.

Many people in Brazil consider Garrincha better than Pele.

IMO the best ever is Maradona.And Messi has a chance to surpass him.

Ronaldo was perhaprs the biggest talent ever but he had injuries.

Zidane and Ronaldo are probably the 3rd and 4th best player "I" have watched, but I'm not sure if they are all time. I don't think there are many here who've extensively watched guys like Benkenbauer, Cruyff, Puskas and di Stefano.

fully agreed. saying Ronaldo being the 4th best ever is a bit of a reach for me. Zidane on the other hand could be the 3rd best player ever. for me it's Maradona/Pele as 1a and 1b with Zidane and the ones you mentioned as players on the same level as Zidane. but just like you I never saw the others play.

Neither was I but my dad used to tell me he was one of the most complete footballers ever.

I have to go with Pele, even though I'm named Diego Armando after Maradona.
