Post#1 » by cody1889 » Tue Feb 15, 2011 3:13 pm

As you probably all know the great Ronaldo has retired. In his honor, I found this video of some of his greatest highlights. Check it out http://shrt.fm/g8XmBY

A clearly emotional Ronaldo revealed he had for many years been battling hypothyroidism, a deficiency of thyroid hormone which affected his ability to stay on top of his weight. The striker also confirmed a muscle injury sustained last week had been the trigger for him to call time on his career. He said: "I thought about it at home and realised that it was time. I had given everything that I had."

In an earlier interview with the Brazilian newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, Ronaldo said: "I want to stay but I can't. I think of a move but I can't perform it as I want to. It's time. My body aches. The head wants to continue but the body can't take much more."

I always thought that he was the only player ever who was arguably bigger than the game. Even some of my friends who would never watch football would turn on the TV to watch him play. Sad ending, but still a great career.

Probably the best player I've seen in my life. He had great talent and was a killer goalscorer.

Aside from his knees he had to battle with hypothyroidism, too bad and pretty sad.

Sad but it was the inevitable end to a fantastic career, like Mamba probably the best player I've seen. Either him or Zidane but I'd probably put him first.

He did not battle with hypothyroidism. It's a lie.

A doctor from COB(Olympic Brazilian Comitee), told that the drugs used at Hypothyreoidism treatment are not forbidden. Ronaldo is just trying to hide that he became effortless. He's fat because he didn't(or couldn't) train hard.

He said that he found out he had hypothyroidism at AC Milan, but he began looking fat since early 2005.

He was great, as brazilian i'm pleased to watch him playing for Brazil, but this guy became a douchebag and probably he will become a player agent. Here in Brazil, the agents hurt a lot Brazilian Clubs, trying to get them out to Europe at any cost. Just think of money.

Greatest player I've ever seen. I still believe god injured him to balance out the game.
"I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious."

Honestly, a guy who can sport that hair cut, gap, get as chubby as he did and get caught banging trannies, without losing his appeal has to be an incredible talent. It's such a shame his knee's got **** up which started his decent into chubby supertalent, he might've even become a better role model for Ronaldinho sparing that wonderful talent from the same career collapse that Ronaldo experienced himself. Funny how differently history could be had one injury not occurred.

He had problems with a slow metabolism or something like that, which is why he got fat. I'd think his knee troubles are a result of that than the other way around.

Funny how the greatest athlete in the world could suffer a slow metabolism.
