For his display in Campeonato Brasileiro for Flamengo, Ronaldinho was called to play for Brazil again, but Flamengo's Coach isn't very happy. To play against Gana (I don't know how to write in english), the Brazilian league players called are gonna miss at least 2 games of the Campeonato Brasileiro... The brazilian teams having players in the Brazil squad are Santos (3 players), Vasco da Gama (1 player), Flamengo (1 player), Cruzeiro (1 player), Internacional (1 player), São Paulo (1 player) and Botafogo (1 player).

he's playing very good, not like Barcelona, but better than he did in Milan... He's 30-31, so he'll never play that way again IMO... But he was the most dominating player I've ever seen for 2 seasons...

Surely he's not going to make the world cup in Brazil but happy to see him get called up again for the national team. He had a relatively short career peak but he was amazing to watch when he was good.

Mano Menezes (brazilian NT coach) wants him to be some kind of leader for the World Cup, whether playing in the starting lineup, etering during games or just mentoring the team... I think it's important 'cause he have 1 WC title under his belt... And I guess Lucio might go to the cup as well... But I think that, right now, we have more than 4 CBs better than Lucio... Dedé is a beast! His nicknames are Dedé Bolt (he's fast!), Dedéckenbauer...

In his first loss of the season in 17 games, Flamengo played without Ronaldinho and got crushed at home by the not so good Atlético-GO... Vasco is rising fast, winning six of his last eight games, with on draw and one loss...

So Varejao, I'm questioning you. Is this Brazilian league as strong as I'm told?

I have a guy here who is basically telling me that in Europe's big 5 leagues we only have a couple of great teams and a lot of scrub teams.

" The overall strength (that is, top to bottom) of most leagues in Europe is downright pitiful."

The strength of the Primera Division is pretty weak after the top 4 or 5 teams but the other leagues have relatively many solid teams. I don't think any Brazilian team would turn out much better than an average team in a European top league.

He goes on to prove his point by stating Brazilian teams have a positive record against European teams in the most meaningless of all cups played, the Club World Cup (I'm not even sure if that fact is right, I actually had to google that Cup ).

He's also praising all the talent Brazil has (A soccer nation like Brazil always has talent - but IMO it's not better than what Spain and Germany currently have).

The difference between Brazilian top teams and middle pack teams is not great. In Europe there's too much difference that makes me think that European top clubs are better than Brazil's, but Brazilians middle pack teams are better than the Europeans middle pack.

Well, as bbms told, the difference between the top teams and the bottom teams in this league is little, 5-6 rounds ago, the leader lost 4 x 1 to the last... and We have the talent, but our best players are not here, like spanish league, for example, but look at the games like Vasco da Gama x Manchester United (2000), Liverpool x São Paulo (2005), Barcelona x Internacional (2006) ... I think the best teams in europe are better than the best teams in Brasil, but at the middle-bottom, it gets a little different...

Updates Varejao??

Hello, guys! I'll try to update news about the Brasileirao, the brazilian championship.

So, in 2011, Corinthians took the championship, proceeding to win the following Libertadores da America in 2012, and the Fifa World club championship, beating Chelsea, last December. In 2011, the only team that gave Corinthians a run for it's money was Vasco da Gama, falling short in the end by 2 points.

In 2012, we had a bit more balanced fight for the title, as Atlético-MG and Grêmio chased very hard Fluminense, the eventual champion, at some point. Fluminense ran away in the end, winning by five points. Atlético-MG is the only brazilian club still alive in the current Libertadores 2013, and they will face the Newel's Old Boys from Argentina, in the semi-final round.

Coritiba x Fluminense is the game that will close the 4th round today, and we have a tie with 6 teams with 7 points, so far. As usual, the brazilian championship has a lot of parity.

Since I haven't been watching too much of the Brazilian Serie A recently, can people who watch it regularly tell me how is Alexandre Pato doing there? I have seen him in a couple of Copa Libertadores games agains Boca Juniors last season, and he wasn't looking particularly impressive ... Is he still struggling with injuries, or he has regained his fitness?

Pato is being underwhelming, to the point that Corinthians allowed him out on loan to rivals Sao Paulo. I really like his talent, and he shows flashes of brilliance, but looks like his head is way out of football right now, no consistency at all. I'd take the gamble on his talent any day a week, though, but I wouldn't put my finances at risk for it.

Cruzeiro and Fluminense are playing great ball at this moment, and two completely opposed styles. Cruzeiro is very young and is playing a fast and direct 4-2-3-1 (though in a beautiful way, with tons of technical ability, a la Dortmund) and Flu is more experienced and is playing a 4-1-4-1/4-4-1-1 hybrid with short and quick passes. Both teams have been a joy to watch, and probably the two most advanced squads Campeonato Brasileiro has seen in a long time.

They have probably the most complete midfield, with Lucas Silva (21), Ricardo Goulart (23) and Everton Ribeiro (25) for Cruzeiro and Flu with Jean (28), Cicero (30) and Conca (31) for Fluminense.

Catch one game of these two teams one day if you can. Those who like European football will enjoy a lot.

Just heard that Brazillian clubs are out for FIFA 15.

Pretty ridiculous. I'm livid, so I can only imagine how the fans feel. I wonder if this affects sales in South America?
