2014 FIFA World Cup Qualification

The group winners will qualify directly for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Among the nine group runners-up, the eight best runners-up (determined by records against the first-, third-, fourth- and fifth-placed teams only for balance between different groups) will advance to the play-offs, where they will be drawn into four home-and-away ties to determine the other four qualifiers.

Im prolly being a Bosnia homer right now but have you seen these countries play? Just cause they arent top 10 in the world teams doesnt mean theyre nobodies; Slovakia got out of the group stage in WC 2010 and Bosnia was 2nd in their group in the WC and EC qualifiers getting knocked out by mighty Portugal in a play off on both occasions, and yes I will say that we wouldve won our group and gotten to the Euro Cup if not for the ref cheating us vs France in the deciding final game when we were up 1-0.

If u look u can see that Nasris foot was outside of the box when Spahic fouled him, but dont just take my word for it, take a look at the videos. Next time do some research before calling someone a soccer nobody

It should be my Greek boys and Slovakia. Should.

Santos has made some odd selections for these upcoming two matches. Plus, we have a few injuries. We still ought to come away with 6 points off the bat. If we don't, oh boy.

We were down 1-0 in Latvia as Tziolis' fat ass gave up a dumb pass that led to a penalty. Thank God Spyropoulos scored a great goal and then Gekas gave us the 3 points. I'll take it. The first game of a major qualifying tournament is always up in the air it seems.

Looks like Samaras will be out over a month though which sucks. He was subbed on and helped with the comeback big time.

Thank God for Ninis and Mitroglou. Gekas missed about 5 chances in that match. Ninis needed this bad to gain confidence after the rough Euro he had.

I know the final score and the stats don't suggest it, but the game was not an easy one for the Bosnians. The Latvians played hard and weren't going to let anything easy get through. Our start was shaky, resulting in Latvia striking first from a corner, where we didn't look good at all. But Bosnia picked their heads up for once and kept trying and trying, hitting the woodwork a few times till the ball finally went past the line. Fair play to the Latvians, they did what they could and never gave up. In the end it was Bosnia's game. Next game against Greece should be full of near heart attacks from fans of both squads.

HUGE game between Bosnia and Greece on Friday, it's gonna be a good one, I'm hoping for a Bosnia win but since it's being played in Greece I'll be happy with a tie

This kind of determines who takes control of the group. We're getting Samaras and Salpiggidis back. Team is starting to mesh a bit which is intriguing. This is a massive home match for us because then we have to go into Slovakia.

Dreadful performance. Very disappointed in Santos and our boys for sleepwalking through a game they easily should've won. First time in a long time Karaiskaki is actually SOLD OUT for a Greek NT match, 33,000 strong and we pull this ****?

Karnezis ended up having a solid match, though Bosnia really didn't test him too much. That reflex arm save was class though.

I fear Toro can't provide much offensive support anymore. Did well defensively, but we needed some creativity that he didn't have tonight.

Papastathopoulos and Malezas were rocks. Both CBs did well. Shame Malezas got hurt and we had to waste a sub on him.

Spyropoulos' shortness was a problem at times tonight. Had some trouble fighting off his Bosnian attackers. Missed a few assignments and could've been called for a penalty. Didn't have any positives really including shooting when he should've sent in a low cross for Samaras. I needed Tzavellas tonight.

It's clear Tachtsidis should be in there before Tziolis who can barely move. All Tziolis has is a perimeter shot, but if you can't move yourself into position to actually get an look, then you're worthless. Made some decent recoveries on defense, but he moved around less than Katsouranis did.

Katsouranis was 'meh' at best. Usual garbage from a guy without a club now.

God love him and his constant hustle and effort, but Maniatis has no reason to be playing so high up and on the right. He needed to be in either Katsouranis' spot or Tziolis'. Ninis or Salpiggidis should have been at his position tonight.

Fortounis was my man of the match tonight. Kid just knows how to play and get some actual ball movement going amongst the cattle of a team that he has to develop chemistry with. His corners were infinitely better than Karagounis', which doesn't say much.

Samaras after that run and dish (that should've been an assist of a goal) to Gekas wasn't the same. His elbow was giving him shooting pains and he really needed to be taken out by the 60th or 70th minute. Still played decently in comparison to the rest of the squad, but we know he can do better and he had been the past few weeks with Celtic. No clue what will happen with him for Slovakia now.

Gekas missed the gimme of a lifetime. GET THE BALL ON TARGET. I would've been fine if he kicked the ball dead straight down the middle and the keeper somehow miraculously saves it. I'm okay with that. Strikers put those away. Period. Samaras gave him an early Christmas present and he pissed it away. Later I thought he'd won a penalty but it looked like a dive on the replays. Other than showing some hustle and getting a few steals that proved meaningless, he didn't really do anything well.

Salpiggidis on for Gekas was kind of a no-brainer. Unfortunately for Dimitri, his one chance he does get it ended up being a good shot that was fantastically saved by the Bosnian goalie. Unlucky. Shot placement was good. If he went more to the left it would've probably gone left of the post.

Karagounis and Katsouranis just can't play together. Once both were on the pitch together I hated our chances even more of scoring a goal. Too bad Malezas had to come out hurt. Maybe Santos would've pulled Tziolis or Katsouranis under other circumstances.

Mitro for Maniatis was dumb. Mitroglou has been playing well, but this clearly required Ninis. The 3rd sub should've been Ninis for Tziolis where you move Maniatis to Tziolis' position and Ninis up and towards the right so that he handles the passing on that side and Fortounis handles the passing on the left.

Just a shame. 1 point instead of 3 at home when Karaiskaki is going nuts with a full crowd. There was very little for those folks to cheer about except for Karagounis' 121st CAP record. Zagorakis didn't deserve this crap tonight.

Now we have to go to Slovakia and win against a team that's getting confident again. Our injuries are not a good excuse for tonight.

Great hard fought draw by Bosnia who was defending more on a account of playing away from home; 0-0 in Greece is a score any Bosnian would take, Greece outplayed us but that won't be the case in Zenica when we play again, these teams are equally matched and in the end I think it'll come down to home field next time they play (barring any injuries of course)
