Dreadful performance. Very disappointed in Santos and our boys for sleepwalking through a game they easily should've won. First time in a long time Karaiskaki is actually SOLD OUT for a Greek NT match, 33,000 strong and we pull this ****?
Karnezis ended up having a solid match, though Bosnia really didn't test him too much. That reflex arm save was class though.
I fear Toro can't provide much offensive support anymore. Did well defensively, but we needed some creativity that he didn't have tonight.
Papastathopoulos and Malezas were rocks. Both CBs did well. Shame Malezas got hurt and we had to waste a sub on him.
Spyropoulos' shortness was a problem at times tonight. Had some trouble fighting off his Bosnian attackers. Missed a few assignments and could've been called for a penalty. Didn't have any positives really including shooting when he should've sent in a low cross for Samaras. I needed Tzavellas tonight.
It's clear Tachtsidis should be in there before Tziolis who can barely move. All Tziolis has is a perimeter shot, but if you can't move yourself into position to actually get an look, then you're worthless. Made some decent recoveries on defense, but he moved around less than Katsouranis did.
Katsouranis was 'meh' at best. Usual garbage from a guy without a club now.
God love him and his constant hustle and effort, but Maniatis has no reason to be playing so high up and on the right. He needed to be in either Katsouranis' spot or Tziolis'. Ninis or Salpiggidis should have been at his position tonight.
Fortounis was my man of the match tonight. Kid just knows how to play and get some actual ball movement going amongst the cattle of a team that he has to develop chemistry with. His corners were infinitely better than Karagounis', which doesn't say much.
Samaras after that run and dish (that should've been an assist of a goal) to Gekas wasn't the same. His elbow was giving him shooting pains and he really needed to be taken out by the 60th or 70th minute. Still played decently in comparison to the rest of the squad, but we know he can do better and he had been the past few weeks with Celtic. No clue what will happen with him for Slovakia now.
Gekas missed the gimme of a lifetime. GET THE BALL ON TARGET. I would've been fine if he kicked the ball dead straight down the middle and the keeper somehow miraculously saves it. I'm okay with that. Strikers put those away. Period. Samaras gave him an early Christmas present and he pissed it away. Later I thought he'd won a penalty but it looked like a dive on the replays. Other than showing some hustle and getting a few steals that proved meaningless, he didn't really do anything well.
Salpiggidis on for Gekas was kind of a no-brainer. Unfortunately for Dimitri, his one chance he does get it ended up being a good shot that was fantastically saved by the Bosnian goalie. Unlucky. Shot placement was good. If he went more to the left it would've probably gone left of the post.
Karagounis and Katsouranis just can't play together. Once both were on the pitch together I hated our chances even more of scoring a goal. Too bad Malezas had to come out hurt. Maybe Santos would've pulled Tziolis or Katsouranis under other circumstances.
Mitro for Maniatis was dumb. Mitroglou has been playing well, but this clearly required Ninis. The 3rd sub should've been Ninis for Tziolis where you move Maniatis to Tziolis' position and Ninis up and towards the right so that he handles the passing on that side and Fortounis handles the passing on the left.
Just a shame. 1 point instead of 3 at home when Karaiskaki is going nuts with a full crowd. There was very little for those folks to cheer about except for Karagounis' 121st CAP record. Zagorakis didn't deserve this crap tonight.
Now we have to go to Slovakia and win against a team that's getting confident again. Our injuries are not a good excuse for tonight.
