Issey Nakajima-Farran is a beast. He was one of my favorites to watch in the A-league this year.

I have almost given up on him.

If Hoilett can't see the importance of the upcoming games, trying to earn a place in the World Cup then I don't see him ever wanting to suit up for Canada.

ah it's him that declining the invitations? dont know much about the canadian team but isnt playing in the world cup every young players desire? I would agree with you on that if he keeps refusing to play then i dont want him to represent us

He has refused once or twice already but has been talking about joining the team more recently. I still don't see it happening though. He should want to be a part of this run in hopes of making the World Cup. We have some very important games coming up.

He has also toyed with playing for Jamaica, and England.

Canadian international Josh Simpson suffers broken leg

Canadian international midfielder Josh Simpson has broken his leg playing for BCS Young Boys against FC Basel in Switzerland.

The injury is a blow for Canada, which had called Simpson up for the next round of World Cup qualifiers starting in June.

Simpson was hurt in a tackle just before halftime of Wednesday's game.

Didn't Julian De Guzman say his brother might finally be interested in playing for Canada? Hoilett and Jonathan De Guzman would definitely help us out.

US-Canada rivalry getting "personal" with some players

To say the Canada-US rivalry has been one-sided for the past few decades would be something of an understatement.

Heading into Sunday’s game at BMO Field in Toronto (7 pm ET, NBC Sports Network, Sportsnet, LIVE CHAT on MLSsoccer.com), the Americans are riding an unbeaten streak that spans 27 years. While the US-Mexico rivalry reigns supreme among North American nations and perhaps in all of CONCACAF – the 49th parallel rivalry is still a matter of great pride for both teams.

“It’s always a biggie,” Canadian forward Simeon Jackson said at a press conference Friday. “They’re our next-door neighbors. Usually next-door neighbors don’t like each other when it comes to derbies, but it’s always going to be intense.”

The last time Canada won a game between the two countries, Igor Vrablic scored both goals as Canada picked up a 2-0 win at BC Place in Vancouver in 1985. Since then, the closest Canada have come is a loss on penalty kicks in the 2002 CONCACAF Gold Cup and a handful of draws.

“For me at a personal level, I’ve played with one of their teammates – Julian de Guzman – for a few years and it means a lot to me to be able to beat him,” joked American defender Steve Cherundolo. “There was always a little bit of talk back and forth, so it’s an important game for me personally.”

Sunday’s game is part of the centennial celebrations of the Canadian Soccer Association. Canada’s first game after the organization formed as the Dominion of Canada Football Association was a 1-0 win over the United States.

Dare I say we have looked like the better team most of the match?

Both teams with lots of chances but I think we have looked like the more organized team with better attacks.

Canadian-born Jonathan de Guzman pledges Dutch allegiance

Much to the frustration of many Canadian soccer fans across the country, the Canadian men's national team has one less quality player it'll be able to count on.

Jonathan de Guzman has made up his mind, and he wants to play for Netherlands.

"My goal is to make the [Netherlands] team for the World Cup in 2014," de Guzman told The Score on Tuesday at BMO Field, where he was watching the Canadian team take on Honduras.

SCREW HIM! I hope he never touches the pitch in a Dutch uniform.

I doubt he ever will get picked by Holland. If you look at their squad for the current Euros, only Kuyt and Van Bommel of the midfielders and forwards are older than 29. Most of them are in their prime or entering it, and will still be that way by the time the 2014 World Cup comes around. Then they have a bunch of fringe midfielders and forwards like Wijnaldum, Siem de Jong, John, Anita, Maher, Lens, Emmanuelson and others who are ahead of him in the pecking order right now and many of whom are likely to improve over the next couple of years.

I admire his ambition, but I really don't see it happening and it's a shame he doesn't want to play for the country of his birth.

I think we have a pretty good shot, we are currently sitting in 2nd.

I'm confused. I thought the last game got us a spot in the WC, but it just keeps our hopes alive, then?

I think Hoilett will commit to Canada after he signs a club deal. Jamaica is slightly higher in the rankings but Canada seems to have a lot of promise heading forward.
