Nominees for Balon D'Or

Post#1 » by J-Mezzy » Mon Oct 29, 2012 8:59 pm

The list has been put out. Headlined by the usual Messi, CR7, Iniesta, Xavi. The biggest surprise in there was Super Mario lol. He has no business being in there. I would like to see Falcao be among the 3 finalists, but I think they will go with Iniesta, CR7, and Messi again.

Pique would have been the biggest surprise if he didn't play for UEFA's favorite team

Andrea Pirlo should win this. He has done a great performance in 2012.

No. There are at least 6 or 7 players who were better than him.

You're missing Reus, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Bender, Mueller and Klose.

Damn it bro! You're right.

Pirlo was the main actor for Juve which is a team never lost in Serie A and Italy national team to made the finals.

I am still waiting who the better players are in 2012 than Pirlo.

Balotelli won't win, but he wins the Ballon d'Or for the most owning goal celebration. And I am German!

Messi? I imagine you'll say that Barca/Argentina didn't win enough, but 73 goals in 2012 (and counting)

I think he was writing this in response to someone who said they could name 7 players better than Pirlo this year.

I can really only think of 5 at most.

Oh right ok. Yeah I'd be hard pressed to name that many ahead of Pirlo.

Luisnani,
Messi has played magnificent last year but his team nor his national didn't win anything. Barca couldn't win the CL and La Liga.
However, Pirlo made Juventus the champion in Serie A. Then, surprisingly to most of the football fans, he made Italy to play against Spain in the final of Euro2012. They destroyed Germany.

Boognish, that guy is just trolling. He can't even count 3 players ahead of Pirlo. He definitely deserves to get this award.

Doesn't matter enough, Pirlo's role isn't recognized as much, even if he deserves it.
I can guarantee you that Messi will be ahead of Pirlo - also deservedly so.

Messi deserves it, but it would be nice to see someone else get it.

Who says that his role isn't recognized as much? Then, how come Andres Iniesta won UEFA Best Player in Europe Award? :) Messi who scored lots of goals, Ronaldo who scored lots of goals were the nominees with Iniesta who is, based on your argument, not recognized as much but in the end but Iniesta won.

So, some of the football players might care about who scores but people who really know football know that is not the case all the time.

Aren't we talking about the Ballon D'or? If yes, then I can still guarantee that Messi will finish ahead. It will be a miracle if Pirlo will be in the top 3. I'm not saying Pirlo doesn't deserve credit, I'm just being realistic, there's NO WAY he gets it.
Also Iniesta is 1000x more visible due to playing for Spain/Barcelona.

Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, van Persie, Ribery.

And before you tell me Ribery does not belong. The dude is playing out of his mind right now.
Is that enough? Or should I name a couple more debateable ones? Pirlo is an awesome player but not a top 5 player in the world anymore.

I'd definitely put Pirlo over Xavi and Xabi. Messi, Ronaldo and Iniesta are definitely more deserving than him though. While RvP and Ribery are close.
