I have not seen this thread on the forum.
So let the arguing begin.
My top choices in no particular order i'm not sure which one I would put as the undisputed GOAT.
Ronaldo(Brazil)
ZIdane
Maradona
Beckenbauer
Zico
Gerd Muller
Platini
Raul
Messi (i think he belongs in the conversation now)
Pele can be in the conversation, but I really don't think he is the GOAT by any means.
I have put in Messi to see how he compares. Maybe we should have a top 100 player of all time. Ill think about making it later. Thoughts?

Pele's longevity has to count right? The fact that he won world cups like more than a decade apart as the star player on his team in a very primitive era for nutrition and sports science is quite impressive.

For me, Zidane hands down. Surprised to see no Ronaldinho, he was the first player on Barcelona for which I really envied them.
If you could pick a certain season for a particular player, I'm sure Henry for Arsenal and CR7 for ManU would get mentions among the more recent years, even if they aren't anywhere near the top of the list.

Ronaldinho has been a great player in every aspect but international. The year that he was the man on his team they failed to get into the semifinals. I still believe that to be considered the GOAT you have to win when it counts. I do understand if your team sucks than its not your fault, but Brazil does not usually have that problem.

Zidanne is a highly overrated player, he's great, like Cruyf, laudrop, and this league, but he's not on Maradona or Pele level.
people use 98 WC as an example, but forget that until the final game he was more of a detriment to the team than helpful. People remember his goal on Leverkusen in the CL final but forget what underacheiver Real team was.
Raul really has no place here.
Ronaldo had too short of a career as to player.
It's either Maradona or Pele, and I'm leaning toward the junky. .essi will be there if hecontinues at this level on with Batcelona.

Don't see how this isn't Pele.
- Scoring a hat-trick in a WC semi final at the age of 17
- Dominating a ridiculously competitive Brazilian domestic league in the 60s year in and year out
- Complete player, can use his head and either feet, play as striker or no. 10, can even move back and become a playmaker if necessary
- Best player on 3 World Cup teams
- Best player on the GOAT team, 1970-73 Brazil
- Was pathbreaking in that he made football popular in the US
- 77 goals in 92 games for the national side
Pele is like Jordan in terms of impact/resume, don't see how you can make a case for anyone else. Maradona was probably equal or almost equal as a player, but in terms of longevity, how iconic he was, and how he transcended and impacted the game Pele is unmatchable.

Pele has a bigger gap over the rest of the football pantheon than Jordan does over the NBA pantheon.
