I admit Yilmaz is making me shut my mouth in this CL season so far but realistically I'll never consider him a great striker unless he does it in England, Spain, Italy, Germany or France.
Maybe Russia, too, as their league is getting more competitive each season.
Look at it this way. The Turkish national team is full of average (former) Bundesliga players.
How could I believe the Turkish league is any good when you nominate guys that don't even start (or play for relegation sides) for Bundesliga teams to your national team roster? Sararer, Torun or Ekici just to name a few. Or even Halil Altintop when he still was in the Bundesliga.
And not only do these guys get nominated, they actually play in world cup qualifier games.
Ailton managed to score double digits in his 6 season of Bundesliga. Then he came to Besiktas and couldn't do anything. So act like he played only one season in Bundesliga. He played 7 seasons and 6 of them he scored double digits.
Guiza scored 27 goals in Spanish League against Barcelona, Valencia, Real Madrid etc. In every single interviews that he had, he always sad Turkish league is way harder to score than Spanish League. There are so many bad players, so many bad coaches who thinks they can protect their end with putting 11 players all around their goalkeeper. This league is hard to score for strikers. Those who can will be a good addition for other leagues. The recent example is Emmanuel Emenike. He was the top goalscorer of 2013 African Cup if i am not mistaken.
I am not gonna go into deep about this. Misimovic, Lincoln, Ailton, Guiza, Carew and many more. Turkish League is just not their style and they weren't as good as they were in our league.
Why does Burak have to prove something to Foye? If Galatasaray decides to keep him like Schwensteiger, Muller and many more players like German teams always do, why can't he be proven? Just because of his club wants him to stay and he wants to stay at least for now, why can't you say he is a great goal scorer? Perhaps, he will not remain with us for years, I am sure, he will go to Europe but my point is just because of he is playing in Turkey, there is no reason for him not to be called one of the best goal scorer in the world.
Since I've been living in New York, I used to watch River Plate games because my friends are from Argentina. I was saying that Falcao is a great player. So what if he stayed at River Plate? He wasn't going to be known as a great striker just because he doesn't prrove himself in other leagues? It is a dumb statement, sorry.
So what? In German and Holland leagues there are so many players who are scoring 15-20 goals. So all of them are proven just because of they are playing in those leagues. But Burak is not.. Good logic though.
England, Spain, Italy is understandable but Germany? What are you talking about? Everybody is scoring 15-20 goals in that league anyway? Goal ratio was almost 3.00 last year. When you go to betting sites, you get lowest odds for 2.5 over bets in Bundesliga.
For strikers, Bundesliga and Dutch leagues are the WORST leagues to collect databases. Those strikers who play in Bundesliga are overhyped and over-performed.
About Turkish National Team. I stopped caring about them since Fenerbahce controls everything. So, I don't know what's going on with them.
