Putting together a list of the top 10 leagues in the world might be a good challenge.

1) Premier League - England
2) La Liga - Spain
3) Bundesliga - Germany
4) Serie A - Italy
5) Ligue 1 - France
6) Eredivisie - Netherlands
7) Campeonato Brasileiro Série A - Brazil
8) Süper Lig - Turkey
9) Premier League - Russia
10) Primera Division - Mexico

Now tell me why I am wrong :)

The only leagues I regularly watch are EPL and MLS.

I can confidently say that EPL > MLS.

I'll certainly take Portuguese league ahead of any of the leagues outside the top 4.

Whoever says Brazilian,Eredivisie and Russian leagues are in top 7, it means they never watch that league. It is that simple.

EPL
Serie A
French League
Portuguese
Spanish League
Bundesliga

There rest is piece of crap.

The Russian league is no worse than Ligue 1, both are extremely defensive, slow leagues.

the "Unchampions" League 2013 Edition. take the four worst teams (non-relegation zone) from each major league (EPL, LaLiga, Bundesliga, SerieA), put them in an imaginary tournament. who wins?

EPL
Norwich City
Sunderland
Southampton
Aston Villa

La Liga
Athletic Bilbao
Osasuna
Granada
Real Zaragoza

Bundesliga
Wolfsburg
Werder Bremen
Stuttgart
Fortuna Dusseldorf

Serie A
Atalanta
Torino
Chievo Verona
Genoa

GROUPS

Group1 - Norwich City, Torino, Stuttgart, Real Zaragoza
Group2 - Athletic Bilbao, Sunderland, Chievo Verona, Fortuna Dusseldorf
Group3 - Wolfsburg, Osasuna, SouthHampton, Genoa
Group4 - Atalanta, Werder Bremen, Granada, Aston Villa

Quarters
Game1: Group1 winner vs group4 second
Game2: Group1 second vs Group4 winner
Game3: Group2 winner vs Group3 second
Game4: Group2 second vs Group3 winner

Semis
Game1 winner vs Game 4 winner
Game 2 winner vs Game 3 winner

Who advances to Quarters? Semis? Finals? Champion?

I have never watched most of those teams to be honest :)

Dusseldorf might actually be able to do alright, Werder, Wolfsburg and Stuttgart can't defend for ****, but Dusseldorf are pretty tough to break down and have been doing better of late at poking home some goals of their own.

After losing to Bilbao in the Europa, I have great respect for the La Liga but this could be because this is likely the golden generation for football in Spain. I mean if players of the quality of Javi Martinez, Llorente, Mata etc can't get regular games for Spain, you know its a stacked side and they have little problem replacing their best players with homegrown alternatives.

I think Wolfsburg would do well, too. They are kinda underachieving in the Bundesliga currently because they were so terrible at the start of the season. They also have a few players with international experience on their roster. Just a matter of €'s to motivate them.

Bremen? Probably not but you never know they can get hot on offense at times.

Stuttgart I consider the worst of all 4 German teams currently because they are dealing with injuries to key players and the roster is relatively putrid. They can't defend and other than Ibisevic (and Harnik who seems to have forgotten how to score this season, though) they can't score either. The team is so damn poorly put together.

Sunderland and Aston Villa are awful, but Bilbao weren't any good themselves whenever I watched them play this season. Don't even know what happened there. Btw I think you have to take into account the fact BL has 18 teams compared to 20 in others

What's the criteria?
I'd much rather watch Everton agaist Stoke than Seville vs Valencia.
In terms of top teams Barca and Real have been the best 2 teams in europe for the last 4-5 years.

If financial fair play ever comes into play EPL and BL will regain the lead, Barca and Real are pretty aweful spenders, and ManU Bayern and Dortmund are the exact opposite.

Barcelona yes, Real may be over the last 2 years.

Real's last 5 champions league eliminations:

2008 - lost to Roma in round of 16 (4-2)
2009 - lost to Liverpool in round of 16 (5-0 )
2010 - lost to Lyon in round of 16 (2-1)
2011 - lost to Barca in Semifinals (3-1)
2012 - lost to Bayern in Semifinals. (penalties)

Even a team like Atletico is pretty boring to watch and they held the 2nd spot in Spain for most of the year. They play defense, have the occasional long shot from Arda, and throw balls in the area praying that Falcao gets one.

I don't know if the EPL is better than La Liga, but I am certainly much more entertained by the EPL than Primera Division.

i'd rather watch two broke girls instead of anything involving stoke.

bilbao still has quality, they just don't seem to have any chemistry anymore, granada has a decent team as well. on paper serie a bunch seem to be below others but who really watches those teams enough to make a judgement?

A better way to compare would likely be taking the 4 teams in each league that did not make the champions league.
