From all of the "insiders" I read, they had said Villa was all but signed to Spurs before the deal to Atl. Madrid broke.

Atm, it sounds like Benteke is the Spurs target right now, but Levy is playing hardball as usual.

£17-22M when he gets sold next summer.

What is the guess on where he will end up? England, Spain, or France?

When I was a bigger Villa fan I remember when we brought in Heskey...saddest day of my life and my first step out the door.

His style fits Spain but I can see him being very successful as the outside wing in an EPL 4-3-3 formation. Fast, good technique and really only his finishing and motivation are a bit suspect as of right now. The former won't be the biggest deal on the wing, he could have a similar impact as Ben Arfa.

How did someone pay 35 million for this loser is beyond my understanding.

IIRC he was lethal in the air for Newcastle the year before he was sold. At the time I thought the Suarez deal was a steal and the Carroll deal was an overpayment for a guy who would mesh perfectly with Luis...turns out I was half right.

Even from a young age, he was always destined to be the next Heskey

I'm not even the biggest Welbeck fan but he has more talent in his left foot than all of Heskey and Carroll combined  At the very least he can be a good Ji Sung Park for us.

I like how "Heskey brought the best out of Rooney" became such a popular phrase

How dare you all soil Heskey's legend with your Welbeck comparisons.
