Stuttgart lost to Rijeka. At least with that clown Labbadia fired there is hope they can turn it around at home. :D

Although, knowing they lost their first three Bundesliga games as well and looked absolutely horrendous yesterday in Augsburg, maybe not.

Surely, they miss their starting CB's a lot but thats not excuse enough to lose against Rijeka of all teams.

I like the groups for both Frankfurt and Freiburg. I like Freiburg more than Frankfurt, better coach, better CB pairing, better goalie. I'm a big fan of darida's if he settles quickly and I like the additions of Hanke and that Swiss kid for them up front, with Schmid and Pilar on the flanks they have some good attacking power left to go with that strong defense and fantastic pressing game.

Lots of boring games today. Only games I would watch are:
Valencia vs. Swansea
Frankfurt vs. Bordeaux
Betis vs. Lyon

Eintracht is absolutely destroying Bordeaux. 3-0 and more than half an hour to go. :nonono:

Edit: and now a red against Bordeaux.

It's only a B team from Bordeaux, though.

Swansea beat Valencia 3-0. I was honestly expecting the same score the other way considering how out of form Swans were to start the season.

Thats what a red card after 10 minutes and conceding 4 mins later will do to you. :dontknow:

Freiburg probably picking up their 2nd win of the season after going winless in first five Bundesliga games so far.
Sebastian Kerk will be a good player one day.

Edit: Freiburg basically scores two own goals to tie the game up.

Kerk reminds me a lot of Thomas Mueller in how he just does what needs to be done. I didn't watch this game but I am quite high on him. Also like the young swiss international Mehmedi for them, with Hanke there to mentor him him and the likes of Darida, Schmid, Pilar, Kerk, etc. setting the table he can grow into a very effective striker for them. Although it would've been cool if they had landed kadlec instead and started their own little czech republic with Darida and Pilar already in tow.

No one watching Europa this season?

This thread is really dead compared to last year.

I'm all over Anzhi/Spurs right now. Seeing Kyle Walker make a smart pass in the box nearly made me cry, being as it's the first one he's made in months.

Defoe's form in these Europa games has been fantastic. He's really earning his minutes here since he doesn't get them so much in the BPL anymore.

I'm sure it will pick up in the knockout rounds, once the CL teams drop down. They're the ones that are always in the semis, and finals anyway. Group games are generally pretty weak in the EL, but you get quality games later in the tourney.

Thought the Tottenham/Anzhi game was at 2 CST for some reason, so I missed it. Not surprised with the win and the Defoe goal. He has been dominating in cup games. All of the cup games for Spurs have been snoozers.

Yeah, absolutely. Spurs in particular had some really fantastic knockout phase games last season, with some nailbiters against Lyon, Inter and Basel.

There's also the fact that we don't have Massimo giving his usual banter in here about the German teams whenever they lost, which inspired a bit more activity in the EL thread.

Yeah, IronChef is right. Once the CL teams drop down, it will get more interesting, especially if some of the more popular teams drop. If Gala and Napoli, or one of the English teams drop, it'll definitely pick up in here.

And the usual...they don't take the competition seriously, whenever an Italian team lost.

SMH at the Italian ref in the Frankfurt/Tel Aviv game.

Bodychecks = no yellow card
two unintentional handballs in not dangerous position = sent off
