If Ronaldo (Brazilian) had only played for 2 or 3 clubs...

Post#1 » by Effercon » Wed Nov 27, 2013 8:33 am

...would he be considered by many as Top-10, maybe top-5 of all time?

As great a player as he was, I can't shake the feeling that these negatively affected his legacy:

- Played for Barcelona and Real Madrid
- Played for Inter Milan and AC Milan
- Played for Flamengo and Corinthians

Do you think that the fact that he burned so many bridges tarnished his legacy, and if so, to what extent?

Ronaldo's problem was injuries, not clubs. He's the best I've seen play, but the club achievements don't support that.

Fat Ronaldo's already a top 10 player and the best since Maradona. Without the injuries he could've surpassed Pele, Beckenbauer, Cruyff and Maradona.

He's in my top 5 favourite players of all time personally. Although I think he should be on everyone's top 10

He's definitely top 10 and might be top 5. Like cgf said, if not for all the devastating injuries he could've been the best of all time.

He's on my top 5. Not many club achievements, but what he did in Brazil during those world cups was beautiful.
One of my favorite players growing up.

I don't think changing clubs affected his legacy as much as that mysterious illness before the '99 final and knee injuries. His career is rated as fairly as can be. The one guy that still pisses me off for not taking care of himself is Ronaldinho, he was by far the most entertaining player I've seen play at his prime.

At the end of the day, Ronaldo only club was Brazil NT and his only competition was World Cup. Like Zizou and Maradona. That's why you remember them.

Dude didn't give 2 **** about his club career post-2000 but was still top-2 striker in the world with Shevchenko until 2006
