First :D. Let's recall some BL rumours:

Dortmund interested in Volland, Diouf (H96) and in re-acquiring Kagawa
Bayern and Dortmund fighting to get Ginter
Wolfsburg willing to pay big $$$ to get de Bruyne
Gladbach intending to replace ter Stegen ("99% to Barca") with either Trapp or Giefer

Daily Mail reports Arsenal's targeting Jackson Martinez if Madrid's Alvaro Morata is unavailable for a loan move

Think Martinez would be a great player for Arsenal

Man Wenger has been really aggressive this year. Morata loan makes so much sense. If they buy Jackson, does he become the starter?

Ancelotti just turned down morata loan again apparently. Depends with giroud back in training if we sign Jackson he'll get eased in and if hits the ground running he'll start over giroud. All depends who's playing better because wenger is fair.

No Morata huh? Is Arsenal willing to pay up for Jackson? You know Porto doesn't budge on their prices.

Poor value. But if Arsenal do decide to break the bank for him, I can't imagine a 40M striker not starting.

Damn 40 million?

Jackson can be a top striker in the EPL, but I don't know if he's worth that much. He is a good fit on that offense and imo, a better player than Giroud. Definitely a better finisher, but again, I worry about his confidence at times. The good thing is that Wenger is a patient player friendly type of manager.

I guess it all depends on how much value Arsenal puts on Jackson regardless of need. What I mean is that if he's a player that they like and we're going for in the summer regardless of all these injuries and title race, might as well pay the extra money to get him now that there is a need.

However, if they are only considering him due to their injury issues, it's not worth the risk and/money.

40-45 million? Sheeesh might as well just try for berbatov then and pray him and giroud deliver this year lol, might not get a chance like this to win the league again soon so we need somebody in.

Graham Hunter says Liverpool, Arsenal, United want to activate Diego Costa's €40m buyout clause. Lol not happening in January even if it did he's not agreeing to terms and don't Spanish clauses work differently?

Yeah Costa won't want to risk his great form in a WC year, specially after switching teams to Spain.

That's exactly it Mali. We need to seize on this opportunity that we have NOW. We are in pole position midway and need to step on the gas and get some separation from the chasers. There are some questions on all the major title contenders:

Chelsea is lacking consistent scoring from strikers
MANU is a wounded duck due to injuries
Livp is playing is chasing and but is on the verge
MC struggles away from home
Tott has struggled with chemisty and is looking up

Arsenal has their own questions which can be answered in this transfer market IMO.

Regardless of who wins the league this year, all of the above are guranteed to strengthen their squads significantly in the summer. So even if we sign a great striker then, it will not guarantee a title or this same position we are in at this time of year.

Let's make a serious push in this window even if we have to overpay for the likes of Drexler, Remi, Cabaye or Jackson? Additionally, Berbatov can be had for peanuts so why not sign him also? F worrying about a long term solution in the summer. Worry about our 3 month future TODAY.

I understand but if you are making an investment this large, it better be because he's the guy they really want. Sure, pay the premium of a mid season transfer for a guy you want and need right now.

However, if that player is not a player that you are that high on to begin with, you can't make a move like this out of desperation.

IMO, it's not a desperation buy by any means if you settle for best next available option now. The fact is we have real need for depth at striker and have a legitimate chance of staying at the top.

Reyes and Arshavin were not "panic buys" and how did they turn out? Proof there are no guarantees that "Wenger's guy" always works out.

xabi alonso signing a 2 year extension reportedly.. wonder what that leaves gundogan's options too. Maybe he'll reup with dortmund now?
