Official Soccer Board OT Thread

Post#1 » by Baphomet » Mon Feb 3, 2014 9:49 am

A while back I suggested making a thread to this effect, and the reception seemed fairly good with approval from the mods. Figured it might be a good idea to test the idea out and see how things go.

This is for any off-topic stuff that doesn't pertain to football/soccer. We already have an OT board here on RealGM, but it would be nice to see an OT thread in the context of our soccer board community. Might be a good place for new posters to introduce themselves, too.

I have to admit I'm pretty curious what some of you folks do. Doesn't Massimo work for a law firm or something? Or perhaps more importantly, has he ever had a German client? :o

rumor has it i am somewhere in my 20s and live in the U.S. but am in Italy for at least a month of the year. I won't be going to the World Cup this summer like I once hoped, but I am considering going this May to the Europa League finals...would be amazing to see Juve win at home, but of course the fact that they could get knocked out is making me skeptical. If anything I plan to see a game at Juventus stadium by the end of the season.

I would never fit into a corporate setting and dropped out of college after a successful two years...but I learn more now than I ever would have if I stayed there. besides watching/playing soccer I love to read and write. my preferred topics are philosophy, psychology, and spirituality. I work several side jobs (or odd jobs) that pay well for admittedly small amounts of work. I also get paid to coach and ref youth soccer (and this past Jan. I started coaching youth basketball for the first time ever).

I live in the US now, have been shuffling between Chicago, Buffalo and New Mexico this year, but will be moving to NYC this year. I used to work in drug development, but am now a film student because that seemed more productive...

Nice, it is a little bit like an outing.

I am close to 30 and work in the financial industry (more precisely, I'm doing M&A stuff). Normally I am living in Munich, but also and especially at the weekend I have a nice place to stay in Innsbruck (Austria), which might be one of the most beautiful cities in the Alps. I lived quite some time in Asia, doing studies.

I have never been to the US but plan a trip to the West coast this year (also maybe a private/business trip to NY).

I grew up in the Detlef Schrempf era, which made me a Supersonics supporter as a child. Nowadays I am following good old Dirk and have a strange passion for the Raptors.

From the football clubs, Bayern Munich is my love and FC Augsburg is my hobby.

3rd year student. Always been a soccer fan and player (top notch keeper 8-) ), but never really followed clubs that closely until recently, only the USMNT.

Always liked Chelsea, but never had a connection to them. I started watching Tottenham regularly last season after Dempsey made the move and just fell in love with the team. It was a bit late, but the London Derby in late Feb/early March really sold me that this was my team (that Bale goal).

Been to England and France once, but never really saw any stadiums (something I couldn't really control). It was the same year Beckham came to the MLS so it was a pretty big soccer year then.

As far as other sports, I'm one of the biggest homers you'll meet. I follow pretty much every pro/college team in Wisconsin closely. It's been a great year to be a Bucks fan. :D

Still only a senior in Highschool (Pretty Young). Live in Atlanta but originally from Bosnia, my parents came to the United States after the War in the 1990s. I root for Bosnia and Borussia Dortmund. Also love every Atlanta team: Hawks, Braves, Falcons.

20 // student in toronto // big fan of Real Madrid, the Raptors, and the Leafs. Hometown football team is Imortal FC. Used to vacation in London so if push comes to shove and I have to pick a PL team I'd probably say Chelsea, maybe Arsenal.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
