This is a very fun group for us Germans. Portugal has CR7, Ghana features KP Boateng, and the US team is half German anyway. Not too hard to imagine a US lineup which perfectly speaks Deutsch :D

Robles
Parkhurst, Brooks, Morales, Chandler
F. Johnson, D. Williams, Jones, Donovan
Green, Wood

Heck, that US team speaks better German than the German team. I would rather listen to an interview of Johnson and Green rather than e.g. Podolski or Großkreutz

Pretty much.
Though, we could try and invite Kevin Kuranyi or reactivate Ailton and give him German citizenship.

Anyways, regarding Großkreutz, here's a very nice quote from 11Freunde Live Ticker during the game against Gladbach, which describes his facial expression very well.

Großkreutz, always with a facial impression like he just carried eight beer crates into the loft of a millionaire without receiving a tip. Then back to the van, where the "Kevin" sign is behind the windscreen a BVB air condition hangs on the mirror. Starting the Rammstein CD and back on the wings, full speed. Don't blow the horn, driver dreams of three points.

Sucks for USA/Ghana because there's no way I could pick against Germany or Cristiano to advance

Seeing as the chips are stacked against us I'm going to have to swing the tides of fortune...by being the most outspoken and obnoxious U.S.A. fan on these here forums. DONT TREAD ON THIS!!!

I say the U.S. advances with Germany after beating them head to head, which we already did in the last calendar year :P

It all comes down to one thing IMO...are we going 4-3-3 or what we've done lately, which is a weird kinda 4-4-1-1? Can someone update me on what the thoughts are here, because Jurgen was staunchly for the 4-3-3 then started switching it up.

What they should do is hire Ailton to join the NT as a Brazil and PR specialist. Then release a reality show of Ailton and Bierhoff traveling Brazil with Ailton trying to tour-guide it up. We could go out in the group stages and that'd be sufficiently entertaining.

Since it's in Brazil, so why not, the US should just play the theme from Team America instead of the national anthem.

RED WHITE AND BLUE!!!!!!!!!! THESE COLORS DON'T RUN! MERICA!!!!!!!

That said, I still picked Germany and Portugal. North American soccer still has a long way to go before it catches up to Europe or South America. And it doesn't help that our best players all keep coming back to the US to play club.

BUT we always look like a **** side and tough it out against prima donna national teams, like England last year. I think Portugal is ready to fall. If that backline gets confused early on they're done for. Then it's just a matter of shoulder checking Nani and those other fruits (btw I'm Portugues  )

I believe in this team, though mostly I believe in Jurgen's vision. He helped make Jozy a MNT monster so now it comes down to the usual vets, Donovan/Dempsey, to show they still got it.

Germs and USA

my reasoning....
the order of the matches

usa vs ghana...will determine the outcome
usa wins, then they will advance

germany 2 wins, and theyr all ready in
they rest their starters in the 3rd match, vs usa
and usa wins

usa 2 W, 1 L and advance

portugal, 1 L vs germany
then, HAVE to beat both usa and ghana, to advance
if they falter in either game, usa advances
usa can play for tie or win vs portugal after having beat ghana
the pressure on portugal to beat usa will be very high after losing to the germs

I wouldn't build my confidence on that. German teams rarely do that.
