For me:

1. When Zidane destroyed Brazil that night in Frankfurt, 2006.
2. That FK from Argentina vs England when Zanetti scored, 1998.
3. Spain's Tiki Taka vs Germany in 2010. The best performance by Spain in this Golden era.

Fenomeno's brace in the WC 2002 final. He didn't score the most spectacular goals he'd ever score, but to score all the goals in a WC final is pretty amazing.

2006 WC Semi-finals when Portugal were eliminated by France. The best Portugal squad I've ever watched. Figo's second last game for us and Zizou's second last game for France. Those two are my favourite players so watching them was amazing, even if we lost.

I loved the CR7 goal against North Korea in 2010. We didn't need it at all- it was a thrashing before that goal- but he finally got the monkey off his back and scored in style.

My dad and brother were alive and watching football in the 80's + early 90's so they saw all the impressive work of guys like Gullit, Bergkamp, Maradona, Baggio, Zico, Platini, Hugo Sanchez, Rumenigge, Francescoli, Butragueno, Milla, Maldini, Matthaus, Sammer, Cantona, and a whole host of others I'm forgetting. '98 is the first WC I remember.

I liked Argentina vs Germany 2006. End by penalty shootout, Argentina's players being sore losers and attacking the German players after the loss (in Germany no less), and my favorite, the realization, after their 3rd sub, that they can't bring on a young Messi. That was gold, everyone was smiling in that moment.

98: beckham red card, nike forcing ronaldo to play, croatia's run

02: any game turkey played including rivaldo flop, senegal beating their colonial masters, italy getting shafted

06: third yellow by graham poll, grosso, zidane free kick

10: disallowed goal in eng-ger, suarez handball, uhh general boredom

Any Turk who is at least 20 years old right now would remember watching this live. Haven't been to the World Cup in decades and in the first game going up 1-0 against the best team in the world, it was just incredible.
