The great Alfredo Di Stefano, the one guy arguably as great as Pele or Maradona, died today. RIP Big Alf, you were a hero of two worlds.

Unfortunate that he never had a World Cup appearance! Lived a long, successful life. Would have been an absolute joy to watch Alfredo Di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas play together.

Di Stefano on the first, Puskas on the second.

I had heard he was in stable condition yesterday, but very sad to see such a legend of the game pass away. He was such a fantastic player, and really at the heart of all of Real Madrid's success early in the Champions League.

Found a link to a video of the 1960 UCL match: Real Madrid 7-3 Eintracht Frankfurt. For those who want to watch him play. One of the greatest matches ever by many accounts.

Frankfurt actually scored the opening goal, but what happened between the 20th and 70th minute is divine. Di Stefano and Puskas just sliced up Eintracht. A Frankfurt player was quoted: "We could have led 3:0 and still would have been blown out."

BTW, Heaven XI looks extremely intimidating now. An attack led by Di Stefano, with Best, Puskas and Garrincha waiting to finish? :P

Always sad when we lose one of the true GOATs.
