England will doubtless be eliminated in that strong group, but I really like our squad this year. Some pretty strong options with Kane, Berahino, Ings, Ward-Prowse, Stones, Loftus-Cheek, etc.

Well, you always lose to Italy, Portugal and Sweden on senior level.

Anyways. I'd like to see a midfield diamond with Geis and Meyer at the points, LeGo at one 8 spot and Can, Arnold, or Kimmich as the other. Volland up front, Ginter at CB, Schulz at LB, and MAtS in goal. That leaves one attacking spot, and RB or CB.

Though I'm expecting a 4-2-3-1 looking something like:
Volland
Younes/Malli - Meyer - Gnabry/Klaus/Bittencourt
Geis/Kimmich - LeGo/Can/Arnold
Schulz/Toljan - Ginter - Can/Orban/Heintz - Korb/Kimmich/Can/Zimmer
MAtS

Please not Emre in the Vierkette.

Put him in the midfield and Knoche instead as CB.

Leno is probably better than Ter Stegen, but yeah Hrubesch will pick the latter.

So 3 out of 28 in the training squad equals 50%. Math seems to really be a strength of yours. :roll:

We lose to everyone, mate. We're crap.

I have more faith in the U21s than the senior squad, though.

You were pretty good in 2009 until the final obviously. But that was a unreal German team though. Neuer, Höwedes, Boateng, Hummels, Özil, Khedira etc.

2011 was weird. Bertrand, Smalling, Phil Jones, Henderson, Welbeck, Sturridge, Gibbs, Kyle Walker, Cleverley, Danny Rose. Still got knocked out in the group stages.

Southgate is a very good manager imo and if he can get a good tournament with the Under-21s I think he should take over after Woy in 2016.

Leno and MAtS are both awesome, but MAtS is better when they're both at their best, and is learning to be a sweeper keeper at barca.

As for Can, don't forget that this is a youth tournament, he's played a lot of CB and ended up back there for Liverpool this season so I can certainly see him there for this side, especially since Knoche's just alright and neither Orban nor Heintz are overwhelming. I mean I prefer him as a box to boxer to, but we've got Goretzka, Arnold, Geis and Kimmich also in this side to fill out the midfield behind Meyer. That's the strength of the side, alongside the goalie and Volland, and there's already not enough spot, so I won't be surprised at all if Can, and even Kimmich end up in the back 4 just so we can get them in the side.

And I'm fine with that. At this level that's OK, especially with our goalies and possession heavy style. Having that much ball skill on the back end will help compensate for the less extraordinary winger talent on the team.

Defend it how you want. But your loser team has lost a lot more CL games than my loser team 8-)

building up to the tournament there were many question marks but Italy has a good squad, evident to anyone who follows Serie A.
Bardi at gk;
Rugani, Romagnioli, Zappacosta on D;
Sturaro, Cataldi, Crisetig, Baselli, Benassi for a strong midfield;
Berardi and Belotti up top.

Germany, England, and Italy seem to be strongest. Germany should be considered favorites. I will have to double check but I don't believe Serbia are bringing some of their strongest players to the tournament, otherwise they'd be a favorite too.

I know zivkovic is playing with a younger Serbian youth side, but have no idea about who's going amongst the more ripened talents they've got.
