For the third year in a row Bayern Munich was able to win the Bundesliga title, which now has them at 25 championships.
Even though they couldn't win another title Bayern still celebrated especially since their women won the Bundesliga title as well.

So congratulations to Bayern for their 25th title.

After spending loads of money on Gustavo, de Bruyne and Schurrle, Wolfsburg finally made it to the champions league finishing 2nd behind Bayern.
The surprise team of the season was Borussia Monchengladbach, who managed to play a brilliant second half of the season which saw them take 39 points from 17 games to finish third and qualify directly for the CL group stages.
The other surprise was Augsburg, who finished 5th and will play in the Europa League group stages.

While those two teams were surprises two other heavyweights in Dortmund and Schalke dissapointed and finished 7th and 6th respectively.

Though that's enoug for last season and now let's have a look at the upcoming year.



Winning the league but going out in the semifinals of both the Champions League and German Cup will surely lit a fire under Bayern's management, especially with no real backup for either Ribery or Robben on their team.

After their great season, which saw Wolfsburg not only finish 2nd in the league but also manage to make it to the quater finals of the europa leauge and winning the german cup, the Wolves will now have to prove that their able to sustain their success.

That wonderful year will now be the past but the team(and fans) can look forward to champions league football while they try to finish for a fith season in a row with a single digit spot in the league. The losses of Christoph Kramer and Max Kruse will be tough to fill but in Lars Stindl the club already found a great player while also being able to sign Thorgan Hazard permanently and extend Granit Xhaka and Patrick Herrmann.

Like last year, Leverkusen was able to secure 4th place and a shot at the Champions League with a playoff matchup. They certainly would've liked to qualify directly for the CL but were beaten out by Gladbach.

Probably the biggest surprise of the season saw Augsburg, the team with the second lowest budget, qualify for Europe thanks to finishing fith in the league.

Thanks to a terrible second half of the season Schalke only finished 6th in the league and can thank Wolfsburg for beating Dortmund at the cup final, so they don't have to play any qualifying rounds for the Europa League.

After a terrible start to the season, which saw BVB at last place after the start of the second half of the season, the team managed to climb back the table and finish 7th place, which helps them qualify for the third round of Europa League quailification.
The team will also have to re-invent themselves not just thanks to a really bad season but also thanks to a coaching change with Thomas Tuchel taking over from long time manager Jurgen Klopp.

Expected. Augsburg could really be in trouble next year with Europe and all that. The German coefficent will get even more f*cked this year. Mainz last year, and maybe Augsburg this season. Disgrace.

So sad that Weinzierl finally leaves Augsburg after they achieved the Europa League.

But I think he could do wonders at Schalke with their strong youth academy.

I'm a bit surprised no one mentioned that Leroy Sane demanded 2.4 M annually while negotiating a contract extension. Big time talent but that figure is insane after a handful of good games.

Nobody can do wonders at Schalke with Heldt and Tönnies running the show.

Regarding Sane....well done by him I'd say. If I was playing next to a blind striker making 7.5 mil a year I would ask for moon wages, too.

Dude just extended his contract at Augsburg and is now leaving?
He surely knows that there's no way to keep this up with their tiny budget but still, that would be a tough one for them.

Oh, and calling teams that have not even a third of your teams finances a disgrace because they finish in the top seven and qualify for Europe has got to be a joke.

I mean, some would call finishing 16th two years in a row and not beating a 2nd division team within 180 minutes, while having a top 6 budget, a disgrace.
Though, but what the heck do I know...

BTW: Schalke and possibly Dortmund will play EL as well and both of them should be considered as contenders for the title, if they actually take the competition serious.

I think Preetz is too busy trying to find out if there's any possibility of getting Lell and Ottl back.

I'm disappointed that Weinzierl leaves Augsburg. Should have stayed there one more year.

Hoffenheim has signed brazilian offensive player Joelinton of Sport Recife.

Also those Ginter to Gladbach rumors are back up again and some news outlets are talking about a €10M deal for him.
I'm not so sure, given that he choose BVB over Gladbach just one year ago and it would be like him running from Dortmund.

If they were at least consistent and would insult all Retortenvereine but only booing the newest one isn't exactly a proof of their intelligence. Probably half of these idiots cheered for Vettel in a Red Bull car, too.
