2018 FIFA World Cup qualification (CONMEBOL)

The South American section of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification will act as qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Russia, for national teams which are members of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL). A total of 4.5 slots (4 direct slots and 1 inter-confederation play-off slot) in the final tournament are available for CONMEBOL teams.
Format
The qualification structure is the same as the previous five editions. The ten teams will play in a league of home-and-away round-robin matches. The top four teams will qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and the fifth-placed team will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs.
Unlike previous qualifying tournaments where the fixtures were pre-determined, the fixtures will be determined by draw, which will be held on 25 July 2015, at the Konstantinovsky Palace in Strelna, Saint Petersburg, Russia
Qualification starts in early October.

Argentina
Chile/Colombia
Colombia/Chile
Uruguay
Suarez' suspension will hurt Uruguay for a few games. I think Ecuador will drop out despite of their advantage in Quito. Expect Paraguay and Venezuela to enter the race.

yea right now, got to agree with J-Mezzy...
Although Chile could start losing ground as well as Uruguay... I am not happy with Tabarez' tactics right now with the current personnel.

Chile has an extremely young team. Why would they be losing ground? Most of their squad is heading into or in their prime right now.

Chile could, I hope not, but 4 years time, they could start losing here n there...
I'm not sure the depth is there for Chile, they'll need to ride their starters til they can find support... it'll be down the road

Like most S. American teams, Chile's issues are at the back. Can't believe Mexico's B team put 3 past them

You got that right. The defense looked bad against Mexico, and Bravo had a less then stellar game. Fortunately for Chile Bravo usually plays much better than that and is able to make up for a lot of the defensive shortcomings.

Had to dig this up, CONMEBOL started their WCQ matches on the 8th and 13th.
Table through 2 matchdays:
Uruguay 6 points
Ecuador 6
Chile 6
Paraguay 4

Brazil 3

Colombia 3
Argentina 1
Peru 0
Venezuela 0
Bolivia 0
Argentina hosting Brazil is the big match on the next matchday, which happens on November 12.

Colombia has been ****.
Argentina off to a bad start and has 2 tough ganes coming. Brazil at home and Colombia in the heat of Barranquilla. Not an easy couple if games

I'm happy for URU... finally scoring... where was this sh*t for the copa? I hope this pushes Cavani to be a better player for god sakes...
Colombia, i'll be worried next year, at that point a healthy james and some light/hope at striker can change a lot of things.

Chile looked solid in their first 2 matches, even without Aranguiz who is out with a torn Achilles and Valdivia playing like crap.
Alexis and Vargas were on fire up front.

I see James is back for you guys. Hoping for a good match. Hopefully ne red cards and no injuries. Chile is on a roll lately and now ranked #5 in the latest FIFA polls.

I was really impressed with Colombia's play yesterday. Obviously disappointed as a Chilean, but much respect. Your guys contained Alexis and Vargas up front pretty easily and controlled play in the second half. Muriel had a fantastic game. Good luck against Argentina, I'll be rooting for you guys.
