Ospina vs Muslera. Who would you rather have?

Post#1 » by J-Mezzy » Sat Jun 27, 2015 8:43 pm

Simple, who would you rather have as your starting keeper? Please don't be bias on your vote just to spite Massimo, give an honest vote.

ospina is not even a starter in his own team, they had to go and find another keeper 8-)

This can't be a legit question.

I find Ospina underrated but Muslera was the sole reason why Gala won the league last year. He's a top goalkeeper.

People over here never watch him properly for like 15-20 games. Therefore, all the trolls will troll now.

This is not even a debate. Muslera is way above Ospina with almost every aspect. As i said, you guys criticize without watching the player.

Plus people are biased. Even though some people think muslera is better just because tjey hate me they will vote for ospina. So lets ask any other global forum.

I'm at a theme park so I can't do it, but can you use statistical facts to back this opinion. From 2012 on, including national teams, what makes Muslera better. Shut outs, saves per game, etc.

I know we've scored 6 times on Muslera in 3 games, definitely wasn't too impressed with him when we play Uruguay

Ospina is the worst 1st choice goalkeeper i've ever seen play for Arsenal so I would obviously pick Muslera even though he acts like a c**t sometimes.

Elaborate, he had 8 shut outs in 18 starts and they made their best run once he took over. Also averaged 3.8 saves per game and won 92% of aerial balls.

Again, if you are going to make generic statements like this, use stats.

Again, if you are going to make generic statements like this, use stats.

Why would I need stats when I watch him every week? We don't have good metrics for goalkeeping and if you believe those metrics then I don't want you to ever say that Neuer and Courtois are one of the best 5 GKs in the world because they aren't close to being the top in those stats.
Also averaged 3.8 saves per game and won 92% of aerial balls.

even though I don't really like those metrics for goalkeepers but I want your Source. Opta say that he averaged 1.92 saves per game and I don't know where did you get the other one as well.
Elaborate, he had 8 shut outs in 18 starts and they made their best run once he took over.

I just don't think he commands his area really well and you rarely see him stepping out and clearing the danger before it is even there. He is really bad technically as well jumping backwards, Jumping with wrong hand and punching shots where he could easily catch them. Those 8 Clean sheets are mostly down to our defending, I mean he only got 20 shots on target in those games(according to Opta) and most of them are easy as well. I will post a video of all those shots so you know what I'm talking about in the mean time just look at the mistakes he makes every game but for some reason he gets lucky and we don't concede. https://vid.me/FfZE look at how he didn't catch the ball in the first place. https://vid.me/27yQ he just can't catch the ball for some reason .

World class gk? Call me when Muslera plays in a relevant league. That would be a start.

I genuinely believe Almunia was better and he was certainly better than him in his first full season. Yes Ospina is that bad. Maybe I'm biased towards Ospina and he was better than him but with Almunia at least people didn't act like he is a top keeper :banghead:.

So we Are supposed to use the eye test because stats don't matter, right. Well just ignore the vast difference in goals allowed in the qualifiers even though they have much better defenders.

And yes, stats matter. Other than you, most Arsenal fans were pleased with his performance.

Yeah, I think Ospina should learn technique from Muslera.

I'm a Galatasaray fan who watches Arsenal a lot. Muslera would be my choice. Muslera is better in the air, more commanding in the box and isn't really worse at what Ospina does best.
