This is my A lineup.

Have 90+ goals from the front 3. Top 5 assister (real word?) in the world in Payet. Destroyer in Krychowiak and box to box in Matuidi. The backline comprises of top players at each position, with the last man a top 3 BL keeper.

Toulalan and Glik add defense off the bench, while all three guys front three are versatile enough to where I can switch to a more defensive set up if needed by going with a 2 striker set up. I have a lot of pace and skill and the stats speak for themselves. Wijnaldium can backup anyone coming off a great year at Ajax where he was a top player in the league.

Offense shouldn't be a problem and the defense is more than solid.

Starting 11:
Standard Christmas Tree Formation (Ancelotti's AC Milan or Allegri's Juventus), with Pirlo as the deep-lying playmaker covered by Mascherano and Kondogbia. Alexis and James paired up, with Jackson Martinez in front of them scoring goals. Back line set up to be able to turn around and launch the attack quickly after winning possession back. Courtois in goal...nuff said.

Bench:
Gignac comes in off the bench as a sub for Jackson Martinez, to showcase his aerial prowess against tired CB's. Kovacic comes in for Pirlo in that deep-lying playmaker role or moves up and switches into more of a standard AM role. Vertonghen can step in for Kurzawa at LB, into the middle at CB, or in-between Mascherano and Kondogbia as another DM to lock down the game with a lead.

Make your football formation with this11.com

As evident, we will use a 4231 formation. Our intent was to draft a line up that was not only the most talented, but provide the most balance. We feel that we've drafted a team with no weaknesses. Our back 4 is very strong, Ramos and Terry are world class CBs and we will not need to play a high line with Casemiro and Veratti in front of them. In attack, Neymar will have total freedom. He will drift in to the middle and act as a play maker as well as a goal scorer. Veratti, Cazorla, Neymar, and Tevez are all technically gifted players and that will provide great movement and passing. Hulk will use his speed and power on the wing and become a second striker at times. The goal is to have our front guys press and disrupt the possession of the other team.

Off the bench we have Nolito who was one of la Liga's top players and best play makers. He can come in and provide a spark offensively and can play on the left, as a forward, or a 10. Vietto provides us great versatility to play a conventional 2 striker formation. Vietto is also very technical and fits in perfectly in the scheme and passing that we are trying to employ. Javi Martinez can provide depth for both the DM and CB postion, when healthy, there are few better than him.

Nothing fancy, pretty simple and straightforward plan. Balance and strength at every position is what we aimed for and we feel that is exactly what we got.

truth + J-Mezzy over kdawg
BUCK over Foye

As I said in the discussion I'll post my reasoning at a later time

-BUCKnation vs. Foye

A really balanced A-team there BUCK. A trio of Ronaldo/Aubameyang/Lacazette is capable of attacking in many different ways, and with the creativity of Payet and Matuidi shuttling with Srna/Clichy in support down the wings is a really dangerous attack. But down those wings is also a problem defensively, Srna can be outdone for pace (whoever's there with the help of Alba) and Clichy, well being Clichy. Lichsteiner/Vidal and Berardi will cause him trouble, this is especially more troublesome considering Ronaldo/Aubameyang really aren't that good defensively. But with Matuidi and Krychowiak being capable defenders with bundles of energy and mobility, helping them out should ease the burden.

That beastly CM for Foye will cause threats, Wanyama is a beast and with Iniesta/Hamsik creating for arguably the best striker in the world in Lewandowski will cause Pique/Boateng problems but again they too have good support from Matuidi/Krychowiak.

Another close match up but with BUCK's attack capable of attacking from all angles, they can bypass this midfield by playing it down the wings with more than enough support as well as a trio of Krychowiak/Pique/Boateng capable of slowing down the defence should a counter attack be on the cards, and with Ronaldo a goal is at least expected and with a lead, this team is even more dangerous on the counter.

-truth18 + J-Mezzy vs. kdawg32086

Another great back four assembled by team truth/J, I've already explained in a previous post in the discussion why I think this is and it's a bit too long to post it again. A quartet of Neymar/Cazorla/Tevez/Hulk is dangerous, crafty and creative with power too, you have Veratti spraying passes and Casemiro supporting and it's a very balanced attack, can have Tevez or Cazorla track Pirlo to make sure he doesn't receive the ball, Neymar and Hulk drifting inside with Cazorla capable of going outside too with Luis and Darmian in support is another angle of attack, this team is especially dangerous on the counter too.

James and Alexis is a great duo to pair up, they complement each other so well. Both are capable of doing whatever in attack with James a better creator should allow Martinez to have some chances on goal and he's also a very accomplished finisher. Pirlo flanked by two energetic, capable all around midfielders in Mascherano and Kondogbia is wonderful and really helps hide Pirlo's deficiencies, but this places too much emphasis on Pirlo to create since Mascherano/Kondogbia are not really known to create, they'd venture forward to have more bodies but neither are really a goal threat, which again places emphasis on Pirlo/James/Sanchez to create. Kurzawa/Juanfran overlapping will create space for those creators but Luis/Darmian are capable of holding their ground.

Crosses are going to come in from kdawg with Jackson Martinez being very capable in the air but so are Terry/Ramos and that's why I think truth/J wins this, Martinez is simply not good enough to take on Terry and Ramos and with Alexis/James playing narrow, this forces the back four to play compact with the help of Veratti/Casemiro. This again allows Kurzawa/Juanfran to overlap and cross the ball but with two loud leaders in that defence it should be easily cleared, kdawg can only attack one way and it's playing right into truth/J's hands. Whereas truth/J's quartet are capable of playing anywhere along that front line, and that fluidity with Casemiro in support and the FBs going forward as well as Veratti running the midfield (will get around 80-90 touches if simmed) edges it for me.

A confusing set of games. Buck looked completely dominant the entire first leg. He also looked to be winning the second leg, until Pique's red card seemingly threw the whole team off (I put everyone in a defensive formation as well).

Hmm,

So far with some simulations still left,

Truth/mezzy 16 points (2 full simulations plus judge)
Bucknation 13 points (2 full simulations plus judge)
Foye 6 (1 full simulation plus judge
Kdawg 0 (1 full simulation plus judge)

Kdawg needs some points from the sims, top 2 looking good to go to the next round.
