RealGM Soccer Team Adoption (New Poll)
Some of you may remember that back in 2011 the RealGM Soccer Forum adopted a second team to follow together. It was a way to bring unity to the forum, and follow and cheer for a team that wasn't one of the most popular here.
Back then Paris Saint-Germain was chosen and we followed the team that season. It was fun, it was different and it was great to all cheer for a common cause. Late in the season the idea kind of fizzled, but I would love to try it again with an MLS team.
Choosing an MLS team means the Soccer area will remain active during the European off season, and it will help that section be more active. I also know some of you guys think the league is a joke, but maybe it will open up your eyes to how much better the league has become.
Is this be something you would be interested in doing?
No hard feelings if this doesn't fly. I'm just doing what I can to promote the MLS forum.

This actually sounds like fun if its active. I have no MLS team so I'd be interested.

I really like the idea. Would have to find out how to follow the MLS but I like the idea if we can get enough people to join.

Would this mean actually having to suffer through MLS matches?

Re: RealGM Soccer Team Adoption
Awesome that a few of you guys are interested.
Even if it just starts off with four or five of us, hopefully more jump on board as the season goes on. It's all about cheering on the same team for once.
Now we just need to pick a team. I'm going to make some suggestions and hopefully those involved can pick one. Using the MLS betting odds for winning the Cup this season I'm only going to suggest some of the teams near the top. No point cheering on a loser if we are just trying to have some fun.
NEW YORK RED BULLS
Top team in the East last season, and should be in for another really good year. Bradley Wright-Phillips is an amazing scorer in MLS.
LA GALAXY
Always one of the top teams in the league. Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane, Nigel de Jong. A team packed full of talent.
PORTLAND TIMBERS
The 2015 MLS Cup Champions, and the most "European" crowd atmosphere in MLS. You'll feel right at home cheering on the Timbers.
COLUMBUS CREW
An MLS original team that is in for a very good season. They may not have the star power of the other teams listed, but will still end up near the top of the table.
SEATTLE SOUNDERS
The largest home crowd in MLS always makes for an exciting match. Clint Dempsey will lead the way as they battle it out in the hotly contested Cascadia West.
Of course you can always go off the board, but I would suggest one of the five above.

I think the plan is for everyone interested to cheer on the same team, and I certainly wouldn't choose the Rapids, haha.
Though this may be a dead idea all together if it doesn't gain traction.

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION OR DIE.
Seriously though, I'd be down to follow the Timbers. No way am I following either NYC team or the LA Galaxy. Absolutely not.

Re: RealGM Soccer Team Adoption
Alright so BUCKnation, Little Nathan, Arda K, Fury, magik9113, GI_Slow and truth18 all seem to be in depending on which team is chosen.
Is the plan to all follow the same team still? If so I would suggest the Portland Timbers over all. Personally I would love to grow that fan base on RealGM but it's also nice to follow the current champions as they try to repeat.
I'm going to change the poll though with ten teams, and we'll discuss the most popular few I guess. Feel free to go off the board though if you feel strongly about another team.

Tbh, I've been to a few NYCFC games, so I'd lean towards them.
