For me this sounds like a really stupid idea, this clubs are thinking about one thing only, MONEY.

It seems like what some of them are unhappy about is that they cannot qualify for sure every year. That's not a good enough reason to destroy something as successful as the Champions League.

Much respect to Liverpool if this report is true.

It would be funny to watch Arsenal choke away the EPL title without all of the bigger clubs in england, but **** no.

This is what the CL is for. No need to ruin the BuLi to expand that crap just because English clubs are weak at the moment.

But what is the idea of this ?

To put lets say, 5 premier league teams, another 5 spanish teams, 3/4 German and Italy teams, you have 20 teams and then what happend, they leave the premier league or la liga to play this league ?

They make a 2º/3/4/5...10 divisions for the other clubs as well ?

i cant understand the point and logic behind this. They have been sucking in the champions league for 3-4 years. Real, Barca and Munchen dominate it these years. So what do they want? to be dominated by those superb teams in another area? they even suck in their own league this year and they complain about the format of CL. First you gotta qualify for CL, i guess.

That has a VERY easy fix

Eliminate the europa league from the equation.

Have 6 epl 6 liga 6 bundesl 6 calcio 5 league 1 teams qualify ( League winer, cup winner, league cup winner and then next best qualified in the league)
also around 3 teams from Portugal, belgium, holand, russia, turkey,greece ( league winner, cup winner, league cup winner/league runner up)
2 from each of the rest of the leagues in europe ( league winner and cup winner)

then have 16 groups of 4 instead of 8 and ONLY THE GROUP WINNER advances to 1/16

The Champions League doesn't need to be fixed. After they eliminated the 2nd group stage the format really became great. But anyway this idea wouldn't work because you are decreasing the number of teams that like 30 countries send to Europe by 2. They would never agree.

(Please Use More Appropriate Word) idea and its not gonna happen. All big leagues would veto against it.

The only thing that needs to change in UCL is getting rid of the "champions route" to qualify for the group stages.

Too many teams that have no business playing CL get in that way.

Well, that's something we can thank Michel Platini for.

Anyways, it's quite hilarious that the richest league's crying about the CL format as they can't dominate at ease by just throwing money at players/managers.

crazy, greedy and stupid idea

British teams are frightened because the extra money will help equalise teams. Plus they can't stand the idea that Little Leicester will be replacing one of them in the CL next season.

These 'negotiations' happen every time TV deal for CL starts to run down, it' just a bargaining tool.
