Makes no sense for Arsenal.

There will be no top managers available next summer.

BBC going on about this making England a laughing stock.

Don't they realise that Iceland made us a laughing stock (if we weren't already). This changes very little.

Agreed.

I still don't like how this took place. Don't get me wrong, Sam is absolutely in the wrong here and as England manager you can't advocate circumventing FA rules, but he was set up by press cockroaches looking to pounce the moment they sensed 'unsaintly' behaviour. The real scum is the Telegraph.

Tommy Wright and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink are the latest victims of the undercover sting by the Telegraph.

This would be absolutely brilliant for England. This guy is basically the father of modern German football(along with Jogi Löw) that we know today with the high pressing combined with the Spanish possession style.

One of the biggest footballing brains you'll find out there.

I can't say I know a lot about him, honestly.

I'm fine with appointing a foreigner, though. Anything to apply some distance from this domestic corruption crisis.

Although Eriksson and Capello were foreigners.

Eriksson really underachieved with that generation when you think about it today. Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Ferdinand, Terry, Campbell, A. Cole, Neville, Owen, Rooney etc. Not making at least the semis with those players is very disappointing. I know they were unlucky with some bad refereeing decisions(disallowed Campbell goal etc.) against Portugal in 2004 and Portugal also had their great generation at that time, but look at that English team. Those are some of the best players English football has ever produced.

Maybe they were more media stars than football stars.

Well, yeah, Sven and Capello did fail massively. No argument there.

Think about it this way though, what if they were to hire Pardew and then his name comes out in the investigation? It would be a total disaster, if it isn't already. That's probably the reason why Southgate is in for the next 4 matches, so this can all come to a head and then they can make their selection.

Rangnick would be good for England, he'd inject some youth and cohesion in possession; but I'm unsure of if he'd actually take the job. If he wanted to keep coaching why did he hire someone to replace him as RB's coach after having gotten them to the first division?

Can someone give a quick summary of what happened with fat Sam? Haven't been able to really follow it this week.

What an uninspiring squad named.

Drinkwater dropped - Southgate says he's injured but he played out the 94 mins against Southampton.
Vardy doesn't deserve a spot going on this season's performances.

Select the players in form.

I like the Lingard call up. Not a top player but has a lovely shot on him and will put in a shift.

Ox is a poor decision though. His development hasn't panned out as expected, most Arsenal fans will tell you that much.

I think they're both ****. If they're really the best we have we are in trouble.

Neither are as bad as Glen **** Johnson

I mean, is it 2006? There's no excuse for picking that donkey. We have countless better fullbacks. Fortunately for England he had to withdraw due to injury, so Keane has been picked, which I like.

I know it's Malta but why are they starting Lingard and Rooney over Rashford? pick the players who are in form, that's what big national teams do.

Big Sam 100% win record
Southgate soon to be 100% win record

Truly we are in the golden age of English managers
