Wilshere is a pretty contentious subject among England fans. He was definitely hyped as the next big thing, future England Captain etc. but to be honest I don't think he was ever that good. He's a pitbull with decent passing ability, but overall absolutely nothing special. He doesn't even always start for Bournemouth. Alli and Lallana vastly outperform him statistically so they get the nod over him.

He may have become a better player if he hadn't been sidelined by injuries so much, but at the moment I don't think he factors into England or Arsenal's future.

Walker is an excellent player, as I've said before. Keane looking good. We should have offered him £100K a week when we went in for him pre-season.

You know that I rate Alli highly but I've been disappointed in his finishing recently when I've watched him, he should have bagged goals against Germany and Lithuania.

Vardy 6 in 12, happy for him but we know he won't even get a look in when it really matters.

It's strange, as Alli scores plenty of goals for Spurs. One of the best goalscoring midfielders in the PL, if not the best. He will take most of those chances usually. If you look at the goals he scores for Spurs, a lot of them are far-post headers.

What do you think is our best XI at full fitness? I think even if Vardy doesn't start, he will have great impact as a super sub (Rashford too). I'd start him in matches against big nations where we're expected to have less of the ball and can play on the break.

I like the youngsters that we have at the moment and the basis of the Spurs team has great potential - as long as they aren't really pressure chokers - I think attacker is a weak spot for us and Vardy should be nowhere near the squad, the fact he is shows how weak we are. Hopefully Kane can show his club form for England and then the job is his. I like Lallana and Alli as 2 10's. I think Drinkwater should be in the midfield without a doubt. Oxlade chamberlain, Sterling and that other noob this week shouldn't be within crying distance of the squad let alone the team (I can see Demarai Gray taking a wing spot if he doesn't let fame go to his head - he has incredible talent). I liked the 3 CB formation and Keane looked a natural, our other CBs looked better in a 3 than a 2 man back line. Walker is possibly the best England player at the moment and it's a pleasure to see him at wingback. Rose could get the other starting WB role too.

I think Hart is a liability in every game and we have better younger keepers who should be selected.

btw I don't like Southgate as manager, I don't think he has vision or tactical nous. I can see him bringing in his favourites like Prowse-ward who is well below average.

A few thoughts from the France friendly (we lost 3-2):

- Happy to see captain Kane net a brace
- Dier was rubbish today, he really needs a rest and to step away from football for a bit.
- Mbappe is the real deal. Probably premature, but his movement and instincts remind me of a young Fat Ronaldo.
- Penalty and red card decision was nonsense, unlucky for Varane.
- They went down to 10 men and we sat back and passed it around a bit, weasly tactics.
- Oxlade-Chamberlain shouldn't play for England at this point.
- Sterling had moments of brilliance and baffling futility.
- John Stones is a mug.
- Pogba is a brilliant footballer and dominated today.
- Theresa May did a Mexican wave.

I thought the penalty was fair but the red was very harsh. Sterling was typical Sterling. Finds himself in great spots and then is absolutely clueless from that point forward. Dier had a bad game, but it had to be a bit overwhelming to be paired with Ox, who was horrid.

The efforts by the backline on those goals were hilarious though, Stones especially.

The midfield didn't help the back line at all. Dier has been Dire as an England player for a long time. England Hotspurs fail.


Kane is looking more and more impressive as a striker though.

Yesterday:

Hart - is a liability, Bytland is clearly the best English GK at the mo.
Walker - way of the pace and not in tune with teammates.
Cahill - didn't see much of him, no errors that I saw.
Jones - Donkey
Bertrand - so full of himself on the attack but would do better to get the ball to a true attacker and then get back in defence.
Livermore - donkey why is he even in consideration for the squad
Henderson - donkey slow with no ideas and no forward pass. We were playing Malta for god's sake.
Sterling - musa-lite. runs fast but with no end product . He may have been a whizz at 19 but he has gone backwards since moving to Manchester
Alli - he was atrocious yesterday. what's happened to him? Seems to have put on weight, was ponderous and poor with the football. Can only pass to Kane.
Oxlade Chamberlain - looked okay in the first half but disappeared in the second. No cohesion with anyone else.
Kane - took his 2 goals well but he is so selfish with the ball and also seemed slow and off the pace.

We were truly abysmal in the first 60 minutes and only the introduction of Rashford and Vardy made us look slightly better than abysmal. The difference with 2 players who were showing movement and speed was a complete contrast.

I used to love watching England but this new brand of English "possession" football is so turgid that I just hate watching the games now.

Idiots will say 4-0 is all that matters we beat them easily and have the 3 points.

We didn't beat them easily, we are regressing as a national team and it is not enough to play like that. Anyone who watched France tear apart Holland the night before would be left wondering just what the FA's agenda really is.

It feels like there isn't anything I can really say about it anymore. This team is so disappointing. The FA never learns.

Which english player's actually responsible for the Premier League games being fast and full of attacking intend?

I can't really think of anyone, besides Dele Alli.

And that's the problem, because all the money you got is terrible for your national team, cause most english guys aren't being given a chance or teams don't really care about youth developement at all.

Though, you do have some talent coming through(had a solid summer in the youth tournaments) and could have some success, if they're given the chance by some PL teams.

Current England National Team is very average... Consisting of pacy but yet average players.

With goalkeeper like Hart & having centrebacks like Cahill, Stones & Smalling you won't achieve a lot... Spurs players like Alli & Kane & teenager Marcus Rashford are only bright pieces of this team.

Then look at teams like Germany, France, Spain & you will see the difference.

Well Vardy is clearly the fastest and best presser in the prem. Perhaps Southgate should turn to Vardy, Albrighton,Gray, drinkwater and Maguire.

That's pretty much the worst answer you could've given.
Vardy doesn't speed up the game, he's just a fast guy who needs guys to give him the ball.

The biggest problem with that is, with the exception of five to ten teams, that England won't be able to play the destructive and defensive minded style of Leicester and won't even have anything close to that in space on the pitch.
Most teams will just sit back and all the pace in the world won't help you, if you've got no space to run into.

So yeah, Vardy's a nice(and fast) player, but he's not your answer even if there are a couple guys who could play a long ball.
The thing you actually need is more creativity and technical ability in midfield, cause you've got to create stuff against deep sitting teams.
