England National Football Team Thread

Two world wars and one world cup, doo-dah.

Here at last, the most unnecessary thread on all of RealGM, where all 3 Englishmen here can revel in the crushing futility of being an England supporter. Others are also welcome to partake by laughing at our protracted misfortune until you get bored and realise it's tantamount to beating up a dwarf with a napoleon complex. If there was ever a poster-child for the concept of disappointment, it's the England national team. Still, hope springs eternal, and there are some decent youngsters in this current England crop.

All Spurs should be in the XI

Quite right. There's an ex-Spurs man that I wouldn't mind seeing in the squad for the Euros too: Jermain Defoe. He's been on-point for an otherwise awful Sunderland side, I would take him over Walcott easily. It will never happen though.

This is true and they've played well, but the Leicester lads impressed too. Drinkwater was MOTM against the dutch. I think Vardy is a lock, but Drinkwater has to go to the Euros too.

Rose was excellent except for the handball incident which led to the dutch penalty and got them back in the game. Still, if Stones hadn't slipped we wouldn't have been in that situation to begin with. Walker looked good as well. Dier, Alli and Kane played about as well as one might expect this season, they've set the bar really high.

The Leicester and Tottenham boys were the only good players. All of the Pool players were pretty awful.

Thought Clyne was decent against Germany. Think Hendo had an assist as well in an otherwise pretty pedestrian outing. Agree otherwise.

Personally thought Henderson and Lallana were poor (and yes they did both get assists).

Kane & Alli, at least, are certainly the two most impressive youngsters in this crop.

There are quite a few more deserving wingers.

Even Aaron Lennon deserves a shout, he's been in the form of his life for Everton.

Hopefully Jack Wilshere will make it. He is by far the best English midfielder.

Hasn't played all season. Would be a terrible move.

Drinkwater and Alli should form the basis of the midfield.

He will make his return this Friday in a u21 match. If he won't have any setbacks and he will be match fit, Wilshere should be on the squad for the Euros. England's national team doesn't have a player who possesses Wilshere's qualities.

I'd take Drinkwater over him every day of the week, even if he was fit, but I guess we'll both see the homeboy as better.

I hope that Woy doesn't end up taking so many players who are just getting back from injuries or basing selection on past glories.

England need to choose a form team who are playing well at the end of the season and have been playing well consistently throughout the season.

Spurs and Leicester based team for me.

Asking Wilshere to not have any setbacks is a pipe dream. Even then, Alli is already a better player and has shown more production in one season than Wilshere has ever produced in the PL.

He's also a bellend and loose cannon of the highest order

Wasn't he in trouble with the old bill again just a few days ago? He's just got back in training.
