I guess it shows the weakness of the format. 3 UK teams in the top 16 in Europe
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

Then Round of Quarter and Semis will decide the tournament. Germany vs Spain and Germany vs France will decide the Champ.

Why the hell is there such a long break until the knockout stage starts?

not sure how you expect them to play earlier, all the matchups involve teams that will be on 3 days rest or less. only we they could've played earlier if group A and B matched up with each other.

Switzerland - Poland & Wales - Northern Ireland

Could easily be played tomorrow. 2 days rest is common between domestic league and CL/EL as well.

champions league games played every other week, teams here already played 3 games in 9 days. not to mention they are not played in the middle of summer.

A little off-topic, but I'll bite.

I didn't vote on the referendum. I'm not vociferously on one side or the other. Not because I feel particularly wishy-washy on the subject, but because I don't feel qualified to make the decision either way. I don't have a degree in economics, geography or history, so I couldn't vote in earnest knowing that I didn't understand all possible permutations. Richard Dawkins posted some interesting thoughts to more or less the same effect: We vote for MPs with, apparently, the requisite understanding to vote on this kind of thing, representing the interests of their constituents. It's not for the unwashed masses like myself to decide.

I will say one thing, I'm disappointed that the level of discourse has descended to the usual 'right vs. left' binary. Politicising the death of Jo Cox, classism, fear mongering, not-so-subtle accusations of xenophobia and racism by Remain outlets, the entire referendum has been a total sh*t show.

Would be interesting to see what a Brexit means for the EPL.
English pound would certainly take a hit and reduce the financial power of the EPL teams significantely.

Talking politically....honestly, I wouldn't even be mad if Britains exit from EU. That would be another step on the EUs way down the toilet. And in my personal opinion the EU has a failed as a construct already.

Portugal or Croatia and Belgium have a real chance to make the final on that side of the road.

That screengrab of a newspaper article in a language that less than 1% of RealGM can read sure was a knee-slapper
