Is PSG the new Real Madrid/Barcelona?

Post#1 » by sovietchild » Sat Aug 5, 2017 1:40 am

Apparently, French league now has 2 most expensive players. It used to be Ronaldo and Messi, but now looks like it's Neymar and Mbappe. Has the shift occurred?

Plus, look how much French players cost. They are one of the most if not the most expensive players on the market. Even in the Premier League the best player was French. Then, you have Griezman, Pogba, Lacazette, Ousmane Dembélé and many others. Which country has this many talents?

The french league doesn't have the two most expensive players, as those are still Ronaldo and Messi, if they'd ever become available.

It will be interesting to see if PSG can make something happen, cause so far they've spend like crazy and don't have anything to show for it.

BTW: Germany has just as many talents as France and Spain is always there as well.

Being french i have to agree and i'm happy with your statement !
For the World Cup 2018, they can have an impressive starting lineup + a huge bench !

-------------------------------------------------Lloris-------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------(Mandanda)---------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sidibe----------------------Umtiti----------------------------Varane----------------------Mendy
(Digne)-----------------(Kimpembe)----------------------(Kocielny)-----------------(Kurzawa)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------Kante---------------Pogba------------------------------------
-------------------------------------(Matuidi)------------(Rabiot)---------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dembele-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------M'Bappé
(Coman)-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------(Payet)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------Griezmann-----------Giroud----------------------------------
------------------------------------(Lacazette)---------(Martial)--------------------------------

The second star is coming on french jersey i hope !!

About the french League, Marseille was bought by Frank McCourt (former Dodgers owner) bringing Luiz Gustavo, Payet, Rami. Luxembourg owner just bought Lille and brought back in France Marcelo Bielsa as a coach with a lot of young talents (Thiago Maia, Caju), Monaco kept Fabinho, M'Bappé (for now) and recruited Tielemans with as well lots of young talents.
Lyon after buying Memphis Depay last yr with the help of chinese investments kept buying very interested players (Mariano Diaz from Real Madrid, Bertrand Traore from Ajax).
Nice is also about to buy Sneijder, and they could keep Balotelli, Seri, Plea.
Nantes just brough Ranieri as a coach !

So many changes in our league ! so excited !!
This year is the begining of a new era for Ligue 1.

What about Laporte ? Isnt there any room for hm in France's squad ? You guys have a lot of depth. Top infrastructure, large and genetically diverse population, good youth programes and a league where young guys are given a shot has given France some excellent results.

Didn't they beat Barcelona 4-0? Which team can do that?

Historically France National Teamess is always good and talented but unless they find some real leader (platini in the 80s, zidane in the 00s) they always lose. Just look at last year European championship :D :D

Yeah, I was gonna say something about that. How can a team with such talent lose to a team like Portugal?

According to Transfer Market website Portugal is worth 250M while France is worth 677M

only to lose 6-1 at second leg so 6-5

doubt they will be able to beat them 4-0 again.

Let's be honest here - Barca got some VERY favorable calls on the second leg - no chance they would have come back without those questionable calls. I think Barca maybe 1/15 or 1/20 tries could have overturned that with fair officiating. But the way it happened I wasn't impressed by it.

So PSG put Barca to the brink last year, then took away a top 3 player from Barca for this year. CL is very difficult to win and there is some luck with the draw. Real one year had Roma/Wolfsburg/ManCity as their path in the KO stages to the final vs Atletico. Other bracket had Barca/Juve/Bayern. I think right now PSG are not a team anyone want to face in KO stage and in a one game final they can compete with anyone.

PSG is a few trophies and about 80 years of history short of being in that conversation.

Lack of leadership (griezmann tried to became their leader instead of Pogba who was awful but it was too late and he is too used to lose) and lack of coaching.
In a single game these two things are important as much as the talent (obviously only if the players are in the same level of pro football).

They s**t themself, the officiating was bad but a great team wouldn't have play like that. They lack the mind set to win, last year after Ibra's (the leader of the team) departure they lose the league 1 to a bunch of kids. Maybe neymar is the answer but I don't think so..

Dude its football. One game means nothing and everything can happen. One shot or one clumsy mistake can decide everything. That is part of the reason why I have love hate relationship with this sport.

At least 2 goals from Barca were not legitimate (Suarez dive and 90+5 LOL)- you can argue a 3rd. Absolute clear penalty on Di Maria - there's no doubt he got hit on the boot before shooting sending his "shot" wide. So you have a 90% chance at another away goal. Scoreline could just have easily have read 4-2 with the EXACT same game played. Don't let the 6-1 fool you that PSG just packed it in. How many times does Barca put up 6 goals in La Liga against garbage teams? How many times against quality? How many games do you see go to 90+5 given no serious stoppages took place?

But back to the main point; everyone think Barca are so far ahead of PSG, and they just barely scraped by them even if thought second leg was "fair". PSG may not have the history of the big clubs, but just like a Chelsea they are building a squad full of world class players - that is all it takes to win the CL as Chelsea had done.

Why does the french national team resemble the african all star team more than that of a french nationality?

As a result of colonialism.
