If Liverpool played 60-70% of the regular attacking, passning they would have drawn or won. They was side passning, didnt run made Atlético look good defensivly. Its a myth of old great Atlético defence to say they played great defence. They defended with 9 players and Salah, Henderson still had shots in box. Horrible Liverpool offence made them look good. Keita should have played,Mane wasnt in shape to start.

Great Simone team with Griezmann, Godin etc would have scored the second goal.

I respect your opinion, but I would say that's a reductive analysis. Liverpool were playing sideways passes because they had no space to operate centrally. Atletico played deep enough to prevent the ball over the top, and were happy to funnel Liverpool out wide as they fancied their chances in aerial duels against their forwards. Vrsaljko and Lodi were playing very tight to the wingers and did well in mostly preventing Liverpool's trademark overlaps. They also created many great chances and honestly should have won by more.

You mean to tell me that a historically great team that's the reigning CL champion, who have won all but one game in the league, didn't get a SINGLE shot on target for the first time in ages because "they didn't run"? Liverpool have had no problem implementing their gameplan in every other game this season, with the exceptions of United and Napoli away. If Atleti had played any other way they would have been destroyed, just like Liverpool have destroyed near everyone else this season. Their gameplan was to fluster and prevent Liverpool from playing their usual game, and they succeeded because they dug in behind the ball defensively and "won" (wink wink) free kicks in key areas. Simeone has done this time and time again in big matches, regardless of personnel.

Now, whether they can do it at Anfield? That's another story. But I'm quite confident in saying that the first leg was a tremendous defensive tactical display.

Beaten by a better opponent.

If Leipzig didnt have that scrub Schick as starting striker the tie would be over by now.

Leipzig are a better team than Spurs without Son and Kane, honestly. That doesn't excuse the timidness they showed in the first 60 mins though.

We have got away with showing up for 20 minutes of games and getting a result many times this season. You can't do that in the Champions League when the atmosphere is different and the level of opposition is higher. The whole performance needs to elevate to have a chance in the 2nd leg.

They're both out for the rest of the season so will miss the second leg. Kane has an outside chance of playing a few games later on in April, but Sonny's done unfortunately.

Liverpool was bad against Norwich too, won barely. They came off from the break. Norwich is worst in PL and hardly the great legendary defense of 2015 Athletico. They created more vs Liverpool too.

The fact this season is Athletico is worse than Getafe, third best in Madrid. Liverpool lost their first game since September. It was more the fact they were bad than Athletico who cant score, weaker defense than Real Madrid this season is suddenly back their CL finals days. Lets not overrate the team when even the fans wants to replace Simone and that wouldnt be true if they beat teams like Liverpool because of their strength...

What's wrong with Dele Alli?
He really fell off a cliff after his breakout season.

Apparently, Haaland's 60 meter sprint was just 0.3 seconds away from a world record...on grass.

After Meunier and Verratti, Thiago Silva could be also out for the second leg against Dortmund!

That's weak defending by Chelsea. Spurs wouldn't let Gnabry get in that much space.

Only Corona can stop the German dominance in UCL and EL right now.

6 games, 6 wins.

Alphonso Davies is a beast.

I have a friend who quit his Vancouver Whitecaps career because he knew that guy is too good for him.

Davies is not done though, quitting Chelsea players careers, too.
