i think MU still wouldve lost even if martial didnt get red-carded. their defense looked absolutely sh*te while tottenham looked great all-around.

I agree.

On the red card, Lamela could've been sent off with Martial imo.

Nobody should have been sent off, imo.

This won't go down too well, I'd imagine, but I'm glad to see that kind of sh*thousery from Spurs. Mourinho was right when he said in the Amazon doc that the Spurs boys are too nice and you don't win anything by being nice. It's irritating to the fans and is without a doubt against the spirit of football, but you only hamstring yourself by being the only team playing nice in the ruthless business of top flight football.

That was Costa-esque from Lamela and I have to begrudgingly admit that I love it. How many times have United got away with nonsense against Spurs? Nani's handball? Pedro Mendes shot a mile over the line? Rashford/Pogba dives? It's cosmic.

Without wanting to dwindle on the details, given that this is the Premier League thread, I've lost friends and have had to severely scale down my business as a result of Covid. I understand that it's been a difficult time for everyone, but I think there was a point where I had to step back from the Internet and re-assess what's important. I haven't been in the mood to suffer fools, and there are one hell of a lot of them online lately. Needed a full detox and feel a lot better for it.

To be honest, until Howard emailed me, I hadn't realised how long it had been. Sorry to disappear out of nowhere and I'm glad to see you guys again, and pleased that you kept this place going.

It's late and I'm struggling to sleep, so I'll try and gather my thoughts on the season so far:

- Still early, but very impressed by Everton. Having a proper manager in Ancelotti and upgrading the midfield is bringing the best out of the players they have. Calvert-Lewin looks like a man reborn playing with James. I can't see them maintaining title level form, but there's a marked improvement in the energy and quality they're showing.

- The new handball law is obviously a joke. There's not much I can say about it that hasn't been said, other than the people responsible for implementing it obviously aren't football people, and they can eat a mile of my turds.

- Spurs have shown signs of greatness and baffling futility. Kane is looking like Totti out there with his passing, and Son feels even more predatory than ever. Hojbjerg and Reguilon are great signings, and Ndombele is starting to look like the player we envisaged upon signing him. That's without even factoring in Bale who, assuming he can regain about 70-80% of his former brilliance, can be a huge X-factor for this team. Still need a quality CB but I fully trust Mourinho at this point.

- Arsenal look improved as well. Annoyingly. There were times when they looked absolutely disinterested last season, but they seem to be working a lot harder as a group. They're going to feel the loss of Gunnersaurus, though.

- Man United have been terrible and haven't really addressed their core problems with the new signings. Cavani is obviously a very experienced target man, and Telles is a big upgrade on Shaw, but neither of them are going to solve the clownshoes defending from that awful group of CBs. Maybe they shouldn't have sold Chris Smalling? He's been killing it in Rome. I wish I was joking but even he has to be better than Maguire/Lindelof/Bailly.

- Liverpool and City still obviously have the quality to be considered title favourites once again, but there's a big element of sloppiness creeping into their games, possibly due to lack of fans (not that that's ever bothered City before). Both teams have made some good signings (Thiago, Ruben Dias, Jota, Torres), so I doubt it'll be long before they're clicking and leading the charge once again.

- Fulham are the worst PL team I've seen since Paul Jewell's Derby County.

- Not sure what to make of Leicester yet, either, but they will probably be top 6 again. After they dicked City down, I was starting to have 2016 flashbacks. Then they went and got mullered by West Ham. I like their squad a lot, though, and Brendo seems to be getting a tune out of them.

- Chelsea and Lampard are walking a tightrope. They've made some serious investment this summer, but I feel like Lampard has avoided most criticism because he's English and is "in" with the Sky Sports mob. If they don't (Mason) mount a serious title challenge, I don't see him lasting the season. Is that fair? Probably not. It's hard to integrate so many players at once, even if they are mostly top class, but Abramovich is famously cutthroat and they don't look convincing just yet. We'll see how it goes.

Good to see you back.

And agreed on Gunnersaurus. Guy was a part-time employee to boot. Not part of the "500 layoffs" planned. Extra little kick in the jimmy there. Guy is making some extra cash on the side....and freakin ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB gotta watch their pennies?!?!?

Like for reals here....the time that the owners/board spent actually realizing the guy f**ing exists in the first place, finding out he gets paid...finding out his meager salary, and deciding to sh** on his existence......that's like 5 years salary right there.

It's insane, especially considering the board promised nobody would lose their job when they were negotiating wage cuts with the players. Apparently they communicated he would come back when fans are allowed back in the stadium...

Why hasn't Pickford been sent off for the hit on Van Dyke? If someone hits another player even after the end of the 90 minutes he can be red carded. It was a calculated hit with the intention of stopping the player at all costs.

Is it just me, or Kepa is easily one of the worst #1 in the entire league?

We was robbed! I don't know how you reverse the call & say it's offsides there? Just dumbfounded.

It's being reported btw that VVD is likely done for the season (ACL).

They said they have access to some shots that the TV broadcast isn't showing.

Spurs look insane going forward at the moment, lethal counter-attacking play. I think things are finally clicking under Mourinho.

To be fair to West Ham, it might be 3-0 right now but they haven't played badly at all.

Absolutely ridiculous. I don't believe that.

So poor defensively.
