You think the main objective of the UCL is to crown the best club.

But if it's to make money, that's what all those group stage games are for.

Hmm, City losing to Leipzig, notable.

It's ONLY about making money.

Incorrect.

It's about making money and/or greenwashing FIFA/UEFA/investors/sponsors image.

Did anyone of you catch Bayern Munich members annual general meeting the other day?
Was hilarious what happened when a fan brought up an initiative to quit sponsorship with Qatar Airways because of the working conditions in Qatar. Whole meeting ended up in a turmoil.

I think teams in CL should play a full league championship format, only, with the bottom team(s) being relegated back to their national championships.

I think it's inevitable.

I do not want to see Wolfsburg ever again in that competition. Thank you.

Superleague proved that it wasn't inevitable. Fans from the team's countries don't want what some "international" fans and UEFA want.

There are simply too many teams unless it's a cup knockout competition.

They did a poor job replacing Glasner and went from bad (van Bommel) to worse (Kohfeld).

Leipzig same story. They did a poor job replacing Nagelsmann and went from bad (Marsch) to worse (Tedesco).

Bayern sleepwalked over Barcelona yesterday.
They didn't even need to put in the slightest of efforts. Felt like a summer game against an Amateur club.
Shame because we are Bayerns next opponent.

It's early but a Salzburg club is leading Bayern in leg 1.

Not likely Bayern will be knocked out but it would be huge if it happened.

Probably make futbol much bigger in Salzburg if they beat the mighty Bayern, especially since Munich and Salzburg are relatively near each other.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder what ideas coaches sometimes have.

How can you go into a game against a great counter attacking squad without any full backs on the pitch?

Liverpool was pretty lucky today, but I feel like that is there strength this year.

^^In principle I agree, but it looked like Bayern had more problems in the staggering of the offensive lines than in defense. The goal conceded seemed an unforced error considering it was a 4 defender on 2 attacker situation, though squad unfamiliarity probably played into it.

Are we going to hear a push to move the Final in May out of St. Petersburg?

There's an article on this site suggesting as much (out of Russia altogether).

Another year, another monumental bottle job by PSG. Messi anonymous, Benzema triumphant. Incredible game of football, congrats Real.

You can get Poch out of Spurs, but you can't get Spurs out of Poch.

I see why Utd are after Pocch now. He can now create his next gen of midfield free football with Rofl as sporting director.

Spurs trashed a better Real team than this, under Poch.

PSG are just overrated and always have been. Pointless oil club with a mercenary culture.
