Soccer NFTs

Post#1 » by fbalmeida » Fri Aug 20, 2021 11:20 am

Any cool projects out there?

The coolest I've heard of is definitely RealFevr.

https://www.realfevr.com/

They've minted NBA Topshot-like soccer highlights. The first pack drop was about a week ago and apparently the marketplace is opening later today.

Started my collection. Thus far my most valuable NFT would be this one I think.

Nice goal from Di Maria.

Is it just from Portugal or other leagues and UCL/UEL, too?

There have been two pack drops thus far. To date, all but one NFT are from the Portuguese league. The exception is an Argentinian league game highlight: a save by José Luis Chilavert off a Maradona free kick. The lowest ask on that one is currently 2 413.55 USD.

There will be one, maybe two more pack drops this winter. They've announced that they've secured intellectual property rights for an Italian club and another league, yet to be disclosed.

I really like their strategy in terms of supply. They won't be flooding the market with endless supply like topshots has done, and will focus on utility. They are going to release a play-to-earn game that's reportedly a cross between hearthstone and fantasy football, where you can create a card deck with your NFTs and either play to win money or rent your decks to other players for passive income. Fascinating concept.

Interesting...I am not too much into NFTs at this point but might think about it.
They are sold just once right? So whenever you buy one you are the only owner?

Oh no of course not. You can list your NFTs for sale on their portal's marketplace, where others can buy them up.

Sorry that wasnt clear.
I meant they are sold just once at the same time. Means I am the only owner if I bought one right now?. Would suck if they sold like 1000 copies of the same goal.

These NFTs have rarity tiers.

There are 5000 copies of each "Common".
2500 of each "Special".
500 of each "Epic".
50 for "Legendary".
And naturally 1 for "Unique".

The scarcer, the more valuable. Specials typically sell immediately for 12 USD or less, for instance, and the lowest ask on an Epic is currently 56 USD.

Currently there are only two uniques available.

Cristiano Ronaldo's first career goal, on sale now for a whopping 1 million usd.
https://www.realfevr.com/collectibles/361157

And this Bruno Fernandes goal, not on the market. It was bought for 91k USD.

Ah okay...I am out then...can't afford unique and it kind of sucks imho if other people have the same item, too...
Unique and Legendary might be worth it...but even Legendary is too expensive for me to consider...

I really like the potential valuation on the Specials and better Commons, like Rui Costa, Deco, João Félix, Diogo Jota, and every grandmother's favourite good little boy, Pepe.

I don't understand the reasoning behind this. Is it my age?

Not at all. On my part, I've never quite understood the reasoning behind NBA topshots, for instance, and why on earth anyone would want to pay for them. But I was nevertheless quite happy to buy packs for 14 usd and sell the NFTs to others for 2x or 3x that amount. They've since flooded the market with too much supply for profit now. But it was really profitable for quite some time.

But with these soccer NFTs though, the video highlights will actually have utility in a play-to-earn card game as well as functioning as a power-up in soccer fantasy leagues people already pay to compete in. There's money to be made here.
