Apologize as I haven't followed much of the Bundesliga this year, but why is Bellingham not starting? If he's injured, why is he even on the bench?

Yes, he was injured lately and it was questionable until today whether he would be fit in time. No idea why he is on the bench. If he is only on the bench for emergencies, the emergency has now occurred.

Bayern seems to be winning without much trouble. 2-0 now. Dortmund needs 3 goals to win the title.

Edit:
Goal for Bayern didn't count. Still up 1-0.

I don't care much about Dortmund, but I feel bad for Reus. Born in Dortmund, has been playing there for 11 years now. Just can't win the title. This may have been his last shot.

Wasn't he a member of the club in 2011-12?

No, that was his last season in Mönchengladbach. He joined Dortmund before the 2012-13 season. He won the cup (DFB Pokal) twice though.

He also missed out on the 2014 world cup win through injury. Unlucky fellow.

Nkunju won golden boot after half a season injured...BuLi striker pipeline seems weak this year.

Looks like north London teams have migrated to the bundesliga.
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

Gotta say the game at Dortmund was crazy. Before the game I didn’t really mind about it. Just wanted a good performance after 4 dreadful losses in a row.

So we spend like 5 hours to get to the Westfalenstadion in the fan train. Dortmund fans were crazy optimistic in front of the stadium saying they would trash us 4:0, 5:0 or 6:0 and were chanting „Dortmund are becoming champions and Schalke relegated“ before the game already.
So seeing the Dortmund arrogance before the game - I hoped that we will crush their dream.

The game itself more than made up for the past 4 dreadful games even though we conceded a stupid late equalizer.
Our squad really silenced the whole stadium.
Except for the away end. We were celebrating in party mode all game.

I will remember for years how we managed to be the party poopers for probably 75k Dortmund fans haha.

There's a large part of me that agrees with your thinking/celebrating. Then there is the small part that is disgusted to see the control Bayern Munich has over the league -- 11 straight titles now.

Games in which nothing is at stake for your team anymore are sometimes the best. Probably the most fun I've ever had at a game was five years ago, when we played at your stadium and HSV was relegated. It was a 90 minute party in the away sector. And I don't even remember the result of the game.

Yeah it is a pain.
But it is not Mainz fault that Bayern is 11 time champs in a row.
It is the fault of the leagues tv deal and closest competitors like Dortmund failures.

We would have a much more balanced league if the tv deal was similar to NBA or EPL.

The top 4-5 teams giving up some money from the tv deal in favor of the smaller ones would instantly increase the competition in the league but it won’t ever happen because the top clubs argue they can’t compete in international football anymore then and lower level clubs argue that they want to be paid based on the viewers they draw on tv.

Reality is Bayern and Dortmund can put 50 mil. viewers in front of the tv. If there is no opponent to play, there is no broadcast.

You get what you wish for. The current tv deal doesn’t want competition. The league doesn’t get competition.

Giving up a few more bucks to the rest of the league wouldn‘t hurt the likes of Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig. They would still be the teams with the most money.

Besides the unfair tv deal - Dortmund is really too stupid to get it done.
Quite a big club. Probably 10x the fanbase my club has. Yet they end up screwing things up and wasting a lot of money every year.
