Portugal should be good and could be interesting to see the second team to go through. I'd pick Czech Republic because they always do well in the early rounds.

honestly, our success will depend on desire and performance of players that play in western europe- especially Nihat. If he plays like he does in La Liga, and meshes well with Tuncay and Yildiray, we have great shot to go through.

Czechs are great tournament team, so i ll give them benefit of the doubt and predict a top finish for them. Portugal failed to impress in qualifying but they ll have the best player in the world. they ll fight with us for second place but we ll come on top in a shocker  .

i think it's an open group, but not very tough.

i wonder how the czechs will do, they could be an enigma (like during the WC).

portugal has a very talented team, it'll be interesting how scolari handles this team.

switzerland is the home team, so don't discard surprises.

i'm not very familiar with this turkey team, but i've always liked them, so i would like them and the czechs to go to the next round.

tough group to call with Portugal, Czech, the home team. Turkey seems to do well in tournaments they actually qualify for lol.

No Nedved for Czech, they couldn't advance past Ghana in the world cup.

I predict another disappointment for them..Portugal and Switzerland advance.

I say that Switzerland, a co-host, will surprise many people. They have some players who can really make it big, like Benaglio, Behrami, Senderos, Barnetta or Frei.

Turkey and Portugal should advance from this group.
However the Czechs got some quality players and home cooking
might help the Swiss....

Turks...I don't really know much about their team, but I imagine it's quite improved given their CL performance. So they could make it very interesting.

Hopefully Czechs and most of all, hopefully with Nedved :)

Don't like Cristiano. I don't think he is mature enough to be captain. The armband should have gone to a more experienced player like Deco. I think Figo's presence will be missed more than they think. I'm interested in seeing Ricardo Quaresma play, he's quite good.

Swiss, good luck. Always nice when the home team does well.

We'll have to see.

I'm rooting for Portugal to win the tournament and Cristiano to be the difference maker. Nani should get a lot of games too after his performances with United. They have a decent enough defense and could be dangerous on the counter attacks.

looking at Czech squad, they dont look as strong as they ve been in previous tournaments. they have a very good defense but midfield is almost non-existent without rocisky and nedved. Koller s performance is shaky and i dont know if Baros can carry the attack by himself. They have the name but after looking at it in depth i dont see them going very far.

yeah, i don't know how good is this generation compared with the generation of players that are in their 30s and about to retire or are retired.

but i agree, their defense and bruckner could be the keys to make it at least past the group stage.

I'll go with Portugal and Turkey advancing, Portugal winning the group. No Rosicky for Czech is going to be tough. Switzerland is the co-host, so you never know.

Tough group to call.

I'm pretty confident that the Czechs will move on in 1st, as that Portugal-Turkey match will really determine how the group goes.

I think Turkey will finish 2nd as Portugal is pretty overrated right now as they've been somewhat lackluster.

Cristiano Ronaldo left Portugal's first training session in Switzerland in preparation for the European Championship with ice wrapped around his right ankle Monday.

The winger looked to be fine throughout the session but before he returned to the dressing room, doctors taped the ice around his foot.

it s never good to see a player get injured but this gave me an inadvertent smile inside.

I think Viera's injury could turn into a blessing in disguise for France if they can out in a young creative midifelder alongside Makelele. That combination looked pretty slow and vulnerable to me against fast counter attacking teams.
